Surely we'll have Professor X-style hoverchairs by the time we need assistance, right?
Natter 78: I might need to watch some Buffy for inspiration

Virtual hugs to you, sj.
I am down with the many-themed gatherings... and the hover chairs!
I think Wall-E warned us about the hoverchairs, though.
I regret missing out on Crosswordpallooza this weekend, both because it looks like y'all had an amazing time, but also because the "picture yourself at Emerson" event had completely separate parent and student tracks, so I spent Friday evening and all of Saturday awkwardly trying to socialize with total strangers. It was emotionally exhausting and I did not enjoy it. I also did not enjoy the drive home Saturday afternoon through heavy rain with basically zero visibility.
Boo on unfun parent visit!
sj, I do that about writing stuff, sometimes. She would have loved to hear about the nibble I got in January, if not that it's still not a go, yet, afaik--and even if she'd been married too long to understand why part of me might have traded it for, you know, actual nibbling, though maybe fewer words from me might help that cause, too.(It's kind of a girly story that's taken me about ten years to "perfect"...it made me think of her a lot.) On a semi-related note, my counsel would almost surely be less delicate but maybe I could offer a fresh perspective on your situation, or maybe just hear you out--would that help, or not? I'm here, but no pressure, either.
Jess just described Actual Mom's Actual Nightmare.
I think Wall-E warned us about the hoverchairs, though.
Look, if we're going to destroy the economy and the environment ANYWAY, I'd at least like to get a hoverchair and cupcake-in-a-cup out of it.
Dang it, the Ladies Night at the Forge blacksmithing class was supposed to be this Friday (the 11th), but the class was cancelled because I was the only one who signed up. I can definitely re-schedule it, but at this point it won't be until the fall, because my carpal tunnel surgery on my right hand is on the 28th of this month, and then after I recover from that I get the surgery on my left hand (I'm guessing June or July), and I'm not going to do blacksmithing in the summer anyway because my perimenopausal self will spontaneously combust from the combination of Cincinnati summer heat and humidity AND a forge. So, I'll give it a shot in the fall, when the temperatures are reasonable and both hands are working properly. (Seriously, my right hand is fucked. It's like 90% numb, except for the pinky. It's so weird.)
Fall seems like the more correct season for blacksmithing. And fully functioning hands seem like they might be a good thing to have while doing it if that's an option. I'm sorry you have to wait, though!
