Good luck Dana, moving is so stressful!
Natter 78: I might need to watch some Buffy for inspiration
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, butt kicking, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
Massive amounts of moving~ma sent. It is never fun.
Good luck, Dana!
And same to you quester -- definitely look into what Laura said.
Sixty degrees here, yay! Husband saw his first robin of the year yesterday. Nice.
Ooh, robins really are a sign of spring some places! Neat. For me (who has never lived anywhere with a real winter) mobs of robins mean there are ripe berries which is really more of a fall thing
Shir, I'm so sorry to hear of your loss. May loving memories bring you comfort and peace in the coming days.
moving~ma, Dana!
I think I've seen more political activity on campus this week than in the entire previous ten years I've taught here. There was a rally this morning with hundreds of people -- it started at 8, and I had to leave after about an hour, but when I went by that area again a bit after noon, there were still at least a few dozen people there marching and chanting.
I saw one of my old students manning a booth for something like "Ohio Student Action," and stopped to say hi and find out what they were doing. He said that it's a new group, officially non-partisan, trying to get 18-22-year-olds registered to vote and get their voices heard. He said that they're focusing right now on SB-1, and that he and the other guy were there at the table specifically as white men, to tell people that the bill affects everybody. He said, "It'll make our degrees worthless -- what high-caliber professor would want to stay here if that bill passes?" I thanked him.
There was a Christian group with a whiteboard set up where you could vote on, "Is DEI Morally Obligatory?" When I passed, the vote was 26 for yes, 1 for maybe, and 4 for no. I added another yes vote, then made an excuse when they tried to start a discussion about it with me.
Poking my head for a minute, on behalf of our lovely Shir, who asked me to make sure that y'all know that she's not ignoring any of your messages, but it's just that Shiva is a hectic busy swamped very few days, and she's exhausted, so she couldn't get to messages, but they're all appreciated and mean a lot.
(Yeah, that's so much like Shir, making sure nobody is upset, when all we want to do is try to see how to make stuff even a little bit easier for her.)
And I'll use the opportunity to send love and support and all good vibes to all who may want or need them.
Thank you, Nilly. I wish I could wash her dishes or something.
Thank you, Nilly.
And I very much appreciate that doing so puts a message telling you how to unlock it again on screen!
Very important. There should be a toggle on computers if you have or don't have a cat. Barkley has adjusted my browser display.
Thank you, Nilly. Shir is in my heart and thoughts. May her father's memory be a blessing.
