Everyone is busy on Monday, I guess.
My friend Tracey is out visiting from Rochester so I'm taking her to brunch at Zazie this morning. I haven't seen her since the 20th century.
I've had a lot of reconnections with people I haven't seen for decades lately. My friend Michelle was down from Portland touring from her band and I saw her two weeks ago. (Also took her to Zazie!). I'll be going down to LA in March for my friend Josh's memorial, and will see some Kenyon folks I haven't seen since...1990?
Anyway, humans are good and I like spending time with them.
It's very foggy and gray here today, but a fancy brunch is a good way to fend off dreary February vibes.
Thanks for letting us now, Nilly. Condolences to Shir
My dad is naturalized and most of the time no one even realizes that but when he started receiving social security it became a whole thing where his documentation was somehow incomplete (he was unable to get a passport for a while, for example)so I do worry that some of this anti-immigration bs will spillover onto him/us even though we are not primary targets. On top of the general moral repugnance, which is a much bigger deal.
It’s a slow moving Monday over here.
With Mac’s recovery from surgery, I have already logged 40 hours of time of work for his medical stuff in 2025. I think those hours each week have helped to keep me somewhat sane, but they are not serving the same purpose as say 40hours of vacation.
There is a chance I’ll be meeting David Byrne in the next half hour or so for a demo at out scene shop.

Cool beans!
Zazie was delicious as usual, but as a bonus we were seated next to a young, romantic couple traveling together for the first time (to SF from SLC). He was originally from Rochester (where Tracey hails) and that opened a conversation with them which was really fun.
We walked them down to Haight Street and I showed them Borderland Books where we took our leave.
They looked well connected and were both in that stage of life where they wanted marriage and kids and I could see it in front of them. A blessing on the heads of Kristen and Brian.
