Hil that sounds like a shitshow nightmare. Of COURSE just when you need her most they get rid of the lady with institutional knowledge
The guy who does the equivalent job for geology is supposed to be doing it for both departments now, but that really makes no sense, since doing it for one department is a full-time job (plus overtime) to begin with, plus the geology department is on the other side of campus, so there's no way for him to do any of the stuff that requires physically being at the math department.
I'm about 90% certain that the problem with the copier went from "there's a problem" to "this cannot be fixed" because somebody was copying stuff and the paper got jammed, and rather than get a staff person to fix it like they'd normally do, they tried to fix it themselves, and ended up breaking something permanently.
That seems like a very likely thing to happen anywhere where there is a copy machine
I’m not sure if I feel like collaborating or focusing. Can anyone recommend somewhere that could accommodate both?

The general rule for jams used to be, "If you know what you're doing, then go ahead and try to clear the jam; if not, ask a staff member to help." But lately, the remaining staff people have been saying that they've got so much work to do that they can't take the time to clear jams all the time, and so we were told to try harder to clear them ourselves. I think this is the result.
I know enough about our company's copier to clear jams, as well as the fact that it's FAR more likely to have an issue if our office manager is out of the office. Which seems to be the case for every maintenance issue, though it's possible with others that she's just so good at noticing and taking care of problems quickly that we never notice them when she's around. (The copier does it deliberately though, it hates the rest of us.)
I haven’t had to make copies for work for almost 10 years!!
Yeah, I’m not sure I even know where the copier are anymore.
