"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Wait, that’s a real thing?

The entire egg case at Whole Foods was empty. I've seen TJ's egg case similarly depleted.

But I was able to get some locally grown, more expensive eggs at my green grocer.

I timed my walk to avoid the heavy rains due at 2pm. Unfortunately I was busy talking to my friend Jude at Borderland Books about my Japan trip and she was too enthusiastic a listener, so we were both standing there chatting when the torrential rains arrived.

I solved this problem by just staying for another half hour and showing her more otter videos.

So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

TJs was eggless yesterday. Egg limits on purchases are also often in effect around here. The bird flu's done a number on it all.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Locally grown expensive eggs are the bomb. Delicious. But when I hear people complaining about the price of eggs I have no idea what they are expecting the price to be, because I have laid-by-the-hens-that-run-away-from-your-car-as-you-drive-onto-the-farm-to-collect-your-egg-subscription prices in my head

Work has a "town hall" tomorrow and I do not know what to expect. Something about tariffs, presumably, since I am told goods received today are hit, but vaguely hoping that we will have slightly more direction than "not business as usual". I am heartened, I guess, that our DEI page is still up and seems unchanged. Huh, and looking at it now the calendar of holidays, etc, says Ash Wednesday is next Friday. Somebody did not proofread effectively.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

Out of curiosity I checked the Kroger website today while clipping digital coupons. My local store has a dozen large eggs for $6.39, but with a coupon you can get them for $3.99 today. I'm only sporadically interested in making omelettes or cooking anything requiring an egg, so I may wait a bit and see what prices are like in mid-February.

You've got friends to have good times with. When you need to share the trauma of a badly-written book with someone, that's when you go to family.

The cheapest I have seen eggs here on the island was $6/dozen; when we were at the Costco in Lynnwood weekend before last, they were completely cleaned out.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Huh. I just saw that Neil Gaiman has been hit with rape charges in three states, and Amanda Palmer is charged with procuring.

Also, a new Buffy show with SMG is going to pilot.

And there's a Neuromancer miniseries.

I'll just read the trades right now to distract myself.

Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.

Gaiman has been hit with rape charges in three states

They’re still civil suits, not criminal charges.

Why isn't everyone pelting me with JOY, dammit? - Zenkitty

My Dad started around 13 and kicking that habit was rough. He never managed although he tried several times. So addicting.

Watching my dad quit smoking when I was a kid was one of the things that kept me from ever smoking. My dad's always been one of the most determined people I know so the fact that he quit 3 or 4 times before he was actually successful made a lasting impression on me. He started when he was 14 or 15 and was finally able to quit sometime in his mid-30s.

I think the scarcity of eggs on the west coast has to do with bird flu

I also assumed it was people being ridiculous until I looked at eggs at Aldi last week. The case was pretty full, but they were like $9.50 a dozen. Thankfully they also had a small box left at about $4.50 a dozen. Then I thought how strange it was to be thankful for $4.50 eggs. A few months ago I would only have paid that for cageless or something.

David, I loved all the Japan stories, including and especially, JZ's visit, of course. Can't wait to hear about Matilda's kendo adventures, I'm so intrigued.

Brenda, loving the London stories as well! I've still never been, but hopefully...

Neuromancer, eh? I’m not sure how I feel about that.

Always Anti-fascist!

I'll extend my offer of my phone mojo to those who might require it.(Although it does get easier, if not exactly more joyous.)
