Death is your art. You make it with your hands day after day. That final gasp, that look of peace. And part of you is desperate to know: What's it like? Where does it lead you? And now you see, that's the secret. Not the punch you didn't throw or the kicks you didn't land. She really wanted it. Every Slayer has a death wish. Even you.

Our wings are not tired

There have now been multiple false evacuation warnings. Apparently something is wrong with the system and it's an automated thing that's kicking in. Either way it's bad. I fear that at this point if a legitimate alert goes off too many of us are going to assume it's not real.

"I'm useless alone." // "We're all useless alone. It's a good thing you're not alone."

Jesus. There should be a parable about that, something to do with wolves.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

Holy shit, that's really awful (the false alarms).

Thrive to spite them

I haven't visited Tumblr in awhile. I tend to go down weird rabbit holes. Also after all this time on and off of it I'm never sure if anyone sees when I comment or if I'm just talking into a void.

I went to work this morning when it wasn't snowing or sleeting. Had planned to come home around 11 but it still wasn't that bad and so I kept working then around 3 I really looked out side and was like--oh that's slush.

The drive home was...part was fine. And then it turned slushy, the most used area. All slush. So I was going slowly and not doing anything weird and coming up 276 right before you get to Furman University there is a hill and a curve...and going home it's downhill. About 6 or 7 cars had gone sliding off the road (I think 2 hit each other, I'm not sure). and there were tow trucks getting them out. I had to drive down the hill around the curve with all of that. I made it though. Going 10 mph part way.

I'm off tomorrow and the high is supposed to be 40 so this will all clear up.

Everyone is panic buying stuff, we've run out of milk two or three times. I was working on getting stuff on the shelves and this guy was sorta complaining about prices and I said "well it's bird flu, you know it's in dairy cows too". And his reply was:

Thank god it's all going to be fixed in 10 days.

How is bird flu or the prices going to be fixed? Trump. I just put on a cheery face and was like "yeah I know it's going to be rough for while with those tariffs but then Musk says it will get better". I shouldn't have been trolling him like that I was at work but he just....he had that vibe.

FB is pushing my local news which has a lot of LA fire coverage it's posting and I keep reading the comments. I need to stop that way leads ....;flames! flames on the side of my face.

Oh! The manager is shutting our store down at 7 pm! The previous store manager would have never done that.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Oh no, that's awful! Ugh. (eta: the false alarms, going back to read askye's x-post now)

Glad you made it home, askye!

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

Flip-flopping on people with false evacuation alerts in the midst of runaway brushfires is definitely not the way to go!

Wow that is horrific, the false alarms!! Definitely makes more likely someone ignoring it, or even just taking more time than they should, if it’s like 3am or something.

Askye I’m so glad I don’t have to deal with delusional people like that.

T, I also did my review this week but I can’t imagine having to do it after big layoffs. Gross. Though maybe better than doing it and then having layoffs the next week?

I’ve had serious VPN issues all week. The IT guy finally contacted me Wednesday and updated/reinstalled a few things, and it was better but still not great. He sent a new laptop to arrive by noon today. It did not and is now saying by end of day…but also saying it is still in Austin. Which makes me skeptical about the “end of day” claim.

Yeah, that occurred to me as a definitely worse possibility! They did update the org chart, but I guess we don't officially have a general manager so it looks like the VP of People is in charge and the hierarchy is just chaos.

I hope you can get access to that Austin-Seattle portal, meara, that could be fun.

I remember the crazy days. 500 posts an hour. Nubmer! Natgbsb

Not sure what I posted here. Mammo on 12/30, needed additional images and ultrasound. That was today. I need a biopsy.

Currently scheduled for 1/17, but trying to get one even sooner.

So any spare “let it be nothing” would be appreciated.
