I only recently started doing the full puzzle again (when you first brought up the tournament, Jen, so I've gotten the benefit from that even if I'm not actually going!) but the mini is part of my daily routine. Helps to get my brain going during the whole waking up process. 29 seconds today, not quite as fast as meara. That thing when it appears the evening before can mess me up, btw. More often with the full puzzle, but if I miss doing it first thing in the morning and go to catch up after work and don't notice it's the next day's, I might break my streak!

Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, butt kicking, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
Also, I noticed in reading the tournament stuff that you have to be over 80 to get called Senior in their age rankings. Which, honestly, I can see the sense of when it comes to crossword puzzles!
Hah I hadn’t noticed that t, but makes sense.
Vortex bummer on the promotion but glad it at least wasn’t a slap in the face of bad candidate.
I’m trying to dig in and get some work done but my head hurts and I don’t wanna. Everyone is on vacation. And I got some stuff done yesterday and that used up all my motivation.
-t, I hadn't noticed that either, but that is awesome... and fair, I think!
Got off of a two-hour call to transition the client of anxiety off of my plate. Phew!
Good call with my doc this morning. You know you're with the right person when you say, "I feel better just having talked to you," to your doctor. I told my husband, "I'm glad she's so much younger than I am, because she will way outlive me, which means she can be my doctor until I no longer need one." Upping a current med that could help w/anxiety + getting some rescue benzos for emergencies. If the increased dose doesn't work, we'll talk about a different option.
Our insurance has decided they suddenly need prior authorization for my migraine meds that I've been taking for 2 years with no hassle on their end. I know it's a new benefits year, but it just seems like, given recent Luigi-related events, refusing to cover a medication they've covered for the past 2 years is foolish. So frustrating.
Fortunately, I still have some migraine meds; I only called in the refill to be efficient, because I have another Rx ready to pick up. Although I guess I'm glad I ran into this problem now, while I still have some migraine meds, instead of when I was completely out.
Thanks for the birthday wishes!
Happy birthday, shrift! Also, abi, got your card.
Happy birthday, Shrift!
Phew, just bought our tickets to Tokyo. Flying Japan Airlines which reputedly has the best Economy service. It's non-stop, but I will have to pay extra to buy our seats together.
It was cheaper to go on Weds Jan 22, arriving on Tokyo the 23rd. Now just need hotels in Tokyo and Kyoto and a bullet train.
Wow that’s so obnoxious, Teppy. I hope they just approve the prior authorization and it’s easy. Such BS.
