I am down to my last 5 peer reviews for the year but these are all folks I have no strong feelings about so it's taking forever because unfortunately I can't submit 5 copies of "So and so did their job, I guess. It was fine. Next year they should keep doing that." At this rate I'll probably wind up finally getting around to making a bunch of doctors' appointments I've been avoiding just to get out of doing this.
(I completed my self-evaluation by copy-pasting last year's into one of our internal AI copy-edit bots and asking for a rewrite. BOOM, thank you robot overlords.)
It has been and continues to be a hectic month. Lots of projects up and running and shows opening and closing this month.
Hello fuzzy Buffistas. I just got back from a 2-1/2 hour visit to the eye doctor. Tests and measurements and such on 6 different machines. Having the surgery on the right eye Jan 15, and the left the 21st. Woot! Seeing is in my future. Going to Ortho on Monday to see about doing more for my hip. Bodies, man!
It turns out that M's mom has at least 2 other cards that she hasn't been paying. And one that is in collections with a significant amount. One of her brothers came over this morning as I was leaving for work. And they filed the paperwork. The income she gets is protected and she doesn't really have anything theu can go after so not sure what will happen .
I got back some of my blood levels and they were the same or slightly better than last year. So that was good
I've been pondering doing something like Lasic on my eyes. I'm juggling so many pairs of glasses at this point. I've got an eye appointment next month and I'm going to ask about options there.
I went whole hog on the eye options, going for the best of all the options. In theory, I should have perfect near/intermediate/far vision for the rest of my days. I figured I am doing it once, so I might as well go for it. I have overused and abused my eyes staring at screens for the last 40+ years so I need to treat them right now.
That's what my dad went for, Laura. He's in the brain-learning-to-interpret-these-new-signals stage at this point, I think, but he's pretty happy with the results so far.
Next couple of weeks are going to be weird at work. On the one hand, we're trying to go live with our new ERP first thing in January, so there's all this stuff to be done to make that happen. On the other, tomorrow is WFH, again on Monday, we're off Tues and Wednesday and back in the office Thursday, which many many people are taking off. The following week are supposed to be in office Tuesday, off Wednesday, and back in the office firing up the new system Thursday. Do I dare to leave my laptop in the office over the holiday?
I don't want to say this out loud where anyone can hear me, but I hope all these news stories about CEOs in another industry fearing for their safety makes our executives second guess that whole cut labor costs before the end of the year plan we were told was on the table
A new ERP system first thing in January? That's bananapants crazy! I have no advice, merely sympathy.
It was originally supposed to happen in July. Then September. Then November. Now January. Super fun all the way around.
