I am sick again. I have been dealing with being too hot at work so haven't been wearing a mask and my team lead has been sick so I think I got whatever this is from him. No real nasal congestion but some post nasal drip, some chest congestion but mostly a dry cough. No fever. No aches. I haven't been sleeping well or drinking enough water lately so maybe that is also a factor.

Was going to go see Mom but cancelled.

Our store is having an issue with teen boys and tik tok pranks. I guess this one you go to a Wal Mart and get in the toilet paper and burst out. We've had it happen three times in the past 2 months. Why ? Today a group of teens came in and they got customer serviced by everyone.

I said we should adopt the tactic I used in 2020 to try and pre empt issues. I would greet customers and then just thank them for being understanding of all the changes etc which reduced the amount of issues. I said we should greet the teens and then mention how refreshing it is to see young guys who are just shopping and being respectful. I was also feeling terrible when I came up with that idea.

I thought about it meara, but I'm leery of doing anything that will pull too much on the siding (which doesn't strike me as the most securely fastened). If I get really serious about it I've seen signs from professionals who do light hanging, so I'd probably go that route rather than DIY.

I am going to a They Might Be Giants concert in DC tonight. Should be fun, but also I think I've mostly decided I only want to entertain sit-down concerts from now on... this is at the 9:30 Club

The nytimes is saying the police are questioning some guy in Altoona PA for maybe being the CEO shooter because someone tipped them he was seen in McDonald’s. I’d roll my eyes and doubt it but it also said the suspect had a silencer and fake ids. Which if true, I would be so disappointed that he was still carrying that shit around days later to be caught?? Seems weird. There must be more to this surely.

The shooter seems like a weird combo of prepared and sloppy. Like taking off his mask to flirt and showing his face but avoiding all other surveillance. It's a whole weird thing over all.

Waaaaa, I need the bubble wrap. Saturday, long story, but I got knocked off balance and hit my head against the side of a metal golf-cart-thing (and hit the ground with the rest of my side). I got checked out by an EMT on site, and no concussion, so just bruises and pain and a lump on my head and several strangers watching me cry.

Today I saw the doctor for confirmation that yeah, the tingling in my left hand is almost certainly carpal tunnel, given that I had it in the right hand several years ago. I can't do the surgery right now because you can't lift anything over 5 pounds for 6 weeks, and we have to pack the fucking house for the move. So I got a steroid shot which A) hurt like a son of a bitch, and B) has caused pain in my hand that I didn't have. I was warned, it should go away in a couple of days, but I am ready to just go back to bed for a week.

Yikes, Dana! That sounds similar to one of my spills, and it fucking hurt. I hereby pass the bubble wrap to you along with ibuprofen and a heating pad. Copious amounts of fanfic are also highly curative.

Listen my aging-population-Buffistae, you've got to be more careful with your physical bodies.

You need to start treating stairs (and probably curbs too) as a potential threat that requires focus.

Also stay away from volcanoes, and small animals underfoot.

Too much headsmacking! We're getting to the age cohort that doesn't really recover from injuries so much as limps along with our fucked up knees forever.

This could be problematic. I spend a lot of time on ladders, in rafters, and in lifts on various active construction sites.
