Right now the world is...a lot.
Natter 78: I might need to watch some Buffy for inspiration
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, butt kicking, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
I'm glad the tsunami turned out to be a dud -- I recently watched the National Geographic channel multi-night documentary on the big Indonesian tsunami, which is now like 20 years back. Holy cow!
We had just enough snow in Boston last night that I had to brush my car windows off, but the sidewalks and roads were clear. Just enough to be pretty and not a bother.
United is horrible. When I had it in NC my therapist agreed with me that a month or so of 2x week appointments would be helpful. United denied it and said I needed to do Intensive Outpatient Therapy at a location almost an hour away. I called and asked why I couldn't get 2x a week because my plan said Unlimited therapy and I was told the plan states that it's 52 appointments per year (one per week) and it's unlimited because they don't require any authorization during the year for more. That isn't unlimited and I told her that. Also their algorithm (not the word used) said that patients who needed 2x a week therapy did better in intensive outpatient therapy. I said I was going through some changes and just needed extra support for that and that this was cheaper. Didn't matter. "We pay for it so we decide" is basically what I was told.
I think my therapist just charged me what he was getting from United. Or what he should have been because they were months behind on paying him
I don't think it's right that someone killed the CEO but that man is responsible for the deaths and suffering of a lot of people and I think the world is better off without him.
So, as some of you already know (because you've followed me back), I've been linking up things on Blue Sky. I'm wondering if people are willing to put "Buffista" in their profile to help find each other there?
Anyway, I'm mentioning this because it is a bit like Old School Twitter there because I'm following the Syrian rebels advance and (it looks like) the imminent fall of Assad's regime. Which is bad for Russia (as they would be cut off from their last few warm water ports).
It's all hardcore Realpolitik as the Syrian rebels are not somebody we'd normally be rooting for, except it's an important check on Russia and Iran, and Assad is terrible.
One poster did a rundown of what they called "The War In The Levant" and it was useful to see that angle with multiple World Powers using various cat's paws in the exciting human game of World Domination. (cue Carl Sagan's "Small Blue Marble" for perspective).
My point is not to advocate for anything in particular here, but the value of jumping in to Blue Sky and getting a variety of viewpoints (Ukrainians, Syrians, Israelis, political reporters, historians et al). I already have a broader scope of understanding than I did.
Which is helpful for somebody who still does not really understand Sunni vs. Shia conflicts in the Mideast.
I'm wondering if people are willing to put "Buffista" in their profile to help find each other there?
Done.

I will do that -- Buffista in profile. I already have a personal list of the Buffistas who I've found on Bluesky.
Done.
