My Thanksgiving could have been a lot better. M wanted to just stay at home and eat Lil Smokies cooked in bbq sauce. I wish we had done that but since I had decided not to go to Mom's (thinking he would want to go to his brother's) I was like "we should go to your brother's". And following his Mom's suggestion we got there way to early. And I was starving. The food was only ok. The desserts looked like they would be great but I made them to go in a container and later it got tossed out by his Mom "I thought it was trash!" So that was even worse.
I was just melancholy and grumpy all day.
Plus I've been having really really weird dreams and one the other day was a really long epic dream about me cheating on M in a truly out there way with someone who was just ...ick. The whole thing left me feeling just awful. Except it wasn't really M in the dream, I mean it was but a totally different person in the way dreams are.
I also feel like I'm in some kind of hibernation mode--all I want to do is curl up where it's cozy and sleep or nibble on things and not do much. It's dark when I get home and my brain is like ---time to go to bed! and then on my days off I'm like "it's very cozy ...on Penny is lying next to me I shouldn't disturb her"
My friend brought me to this dance party but it’s all strangers (and a lot of straight dudes) and I don’t really want to dance this kind of dance with them (it’s “fusion”, so involves a lot of awkward close hold). But it’s at someone’s house, so there’s not a lot of places to be and just watch and not be hella awkward, so I’m out on the porch pretending to type some very important text or something. Yep yep yep. Hello all.
{fake texts back to meara to maintain the illusion}
The pumpkin pie is almost gone, but I made a new tray of stuffing because it's the most versatile leftover.
Cousin Nicole is visiting us from Sacramento so Matilda has been forced to move back to her own bedroom. She's been living down in the Garden Apartment since she got mono in early October but I'm going to make her hang out with me during the holidays and the run up to Japan.
We're going to try to muster a group outing to see Wicked on Monday.
Sounds fun!
I am making a lemon ice box pie today, because my mom used to make them for most family gathering type holidays; we didn't have one at Thanksgiving this year, and I missed it and feel like we neglected the remembrance of Ruby. Plus, it's forking delicious.
I went and got a cheap little electric citrus juicer at H-Mart this morning (manual lemon juicing had been the most annoying part of the pie process, historically) -- what a revelation! Four lemons in less than a minute. Amazing.
Yikes, meara. Use us anytime to type away. I hope you were able to have some fun.

I made an absurd amount of stuffing because it is my favorite.
I put up the lights and red bows on my balcony. It was a chore and I was drenched by the time I finished despite wearing next to nothing. There are a couple small sections that aren't lighting, but it isn't real obvious. I'll try and figure that out at some point. The tree is up which already has lights so although no decorations yet it is still pretty. Objective today is to get enough stuff off the floor that the robot vacuum has a chance. I really don't want to sweep.
My sister came over to help with more unpacking, and we made a lot of progress. The kitchen still needs a bit of work, and there are more books and random stuff to unpack. But the living room looks like a living room, I could work in my office if I needed to, and I even have a couple of bird feeders up. (The birds found it about 90 seconds after I came back inside.) I’d say I was at a point where I could take a break and put up the Christmas tree, but I always watch my Lord of the Rings extended edition DVDs while I do so. So more unpacking for me.

Somehow, I only remembered to test one of the three strings of lights on our tree before putting them up (the middle one). That was a mistake.
The third strand didn’t work at all so that one has been disposed of and replaced. The first strand has big chunks of it that aren’t lighting so I did my best to bunch of those up in the back. Once the ornaments are up no way it’s going to be apparent without close examination.
