it's the 20s NOW" which was just such a rude thing to point out even if it was both relevant and true.

Ah, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha! Also, ouch.

Thrive to spite them

Happy Birthday Jessica.

I'm avoiding the news because every time I look at it there is something more depressing.

M and I went up to Mom's and toon M to the locally owned toy store so he could get something cool for his birthday. Which he did a really cool model car. We also had scones and a nice visit. Mom had found this cat pattern quilt which I will admit several years ago I might have turned my nose up at for being ...too much ...but it's comfy and awesome and she got it because we are Cat People

Came home and found out the Kitten M's Mom brought home this summer has something really wrong with its paw. Its a sickly kitten and she hasn't taken it to get any kind of vet care. I don't want to be financially responsible for that kitten but it's in pain and limping badly so I'm calling the vet tomorrow. I'm only paying for its paw. M's mom was like "I'll pay you back but not next month I have to buy Xmas presents" (except every adult has told her not to buy them anything to just pay off her debts)

And then we are calling the animal shelter about surrounding the kitten. I feel horrible about that but I cant afford vet bills for a sickly cat. Its bad enough with Scrappy getting into fights and having to deal with is nonsense and this kitten isn't even mine.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

Happy birthday, Jessica!

Lisah, I’m moving to northwestern Oakland County. My apartment application was accepted and I’ll likely be moving around 11/23.

Askye, surrendering the kitten under these circumstances sounds like a good idea.

Punishingly Intricate

Congrats. Calli!!

I’m sorry, Askye, it does sound like surrendering the kitten might be the best option for it

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

Poor kitty! If M's Mom can't afford to pay the vet bills, she shouldn't have taken it on. I'm glad you're there to step in and advocate for it.

Our wings are not tired.

Today we celebrate Hil's birthday! May today bring treats and spoils, and may this year exceed your expectations.

Happy Birthday, Hil! Cake and confetti in your general direction, and wishing you a super year ahead.

Unusually and exceedingly peculiar and altogether quite impossible to describe

Happy Birthday, Hil!

My tiny good thing for the day is that I made copycat Starbucks egg bites, and they are super tasty and so easy to grab out of the fridge for breakfast because I am lazy but need protein.

Happy Birthday Hil!

When I was contemplating a return to the Roaring 20s I was hoping it would be jazz, Art, and booze, not another Great Depression and roaring in rage at people's willful ignorance.

Thrive to spite them

M's mother lives totally on the now and barely considers any future actions or consequences.

She is also obsessed with mowing the lawn and our poor lawn looks like it's balding it's been cut so far down. This house is one big DIYWTF and one of those is the outside laundry/storage area that had a huge plate glass window. Think the type of picture window you would see in a living room.

I say had because M's mom was mowing without the guard on the riding mower and a rock went through the window. She did borrow her brother's shop vac to get almost all the glass up

I'm hoping maybe the kitten just stepped in some glass and is really otherwise ok and we can work on the steps the animal shelter has for rehoming. And then maybe we can be without a 5th cat for a few months. She's also been talking about bringing home another kitten or a puppy.

If M can talk to the lawyer about his VA disability and maybe get that raised we could maybe get our own place without it being too much of a financial burden. Technically we could get a place now it just would make everything really tight. Plus we need to figure out people to move in here to help his mom with the bills etc.
