All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

Work kept me well occupied today (last day of A Christmas Carol load-in) and every time I went out, or even into the lobby, I could see the voting line for one of the downtown supersites wrapping half way around the block (and Chicago city blocks are slightly larger than most). There has been an outdoor line of varying lengths at that site since early voting started, but today people were patiently staying in line even in the rain.

About an hour ago I got a text from my dad letting me know that my mom is scheduled to have a cancerous kidney removed in ten days. (In fairness, the schedule was the only part I wasn't already aware of.)

I picked up a 16oz margarita with my take-out tacos tonight and I'm trying really hard not to down the whole thing.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Mom made chili with blue tortilla chips and guacamole for dinner. Comfort meal achieved

Danger is my middle name, only I spell it R. u. t. h. - Tina Belcher.

What Karl said!

I have NPR on my phone. Also, getting Iowa results. I sure hope our home pollster is right.

Sipping Manhattan, and eating ice cream.

I just made (really fucking good - they can be a crap shoot for me) grilled cheese sandwiches for us, comfort-food wise, so that's something.

Margarita’s a good choice, aurelia. As are ice cream and grilled cheeses! Well done y’all

I remember the crazy days. 500 posts an hour. Nubmer! Natgbsb

I’m happy with MD results. Leadership of the government I work for will be changing, not by election, but our current leadership heading to Congress, so a new leader will be appointed and we have no idea who that might be.

Thrive to spite them

At this point I'm worried that Harris will lose both the popular vote and the Electoral College.

It looks like I'm a few states she will have done worst than Biden did the last election.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

I was optimistic going into this election but now I'm feeling a little queasy.

Early results are showing that Trump has made significant inroads with black and hispanic men (up from 11% to 23%).

Alternatively, Harris has made good gains on White Suburban women. (Mostly on the basis of Dobbs.)

Harris can still win if she holds on to WI, MI and PA but if she does win it's going to be super tight. Like 270 to 268.

We will definitely not know by tomorrow. But Michigan will report first of those three states, so we have to see if the large Arab population there will sink Harris because of their anger about Gaza. (Which...Trump is a much bigger supporter of Netanyahu than Harris would be but voters are more blameful than thoughtful.)

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Trump wins North Carolina.

Everything is trending his way. It doesn't look good.
