Spike: At least give me Wesley's office since he's gone. Angel: He's not gone. He's on a leave of absence. Spike: Yeah, right. Boo-hoo. Thought he killed his bloody father. Try staking your mother when she's coming on to you! Harmony: Well…that explains a lot.

Thrive to spite them

I discovered today that I've managed to rub holes in the heels of a pair of my Hokas. I had switched out the insoles for some new ones but they weren't that great and they kept sliding around. I think when I was walking and I'm not sure how but I ended up rubbing holes in them. Right through the lining and then padding.

Either that or when I was soaking them in water and oxi clean the oxi clean ate just through that part. So I can't wear them. I have another pair but I really like to switch my shoes fairly often. I was going to buy a third pair but now I'll have to get a replacement. I had them for only a year . Frustrating but they weren't my favorite pair. They have a pair made for work with slip resistance soles that I may get this time and see how I like them.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

Given that left to my natural inclination, I'd wear out my favorite pair of shoes by wearing them every.damn.day, I've taken to having three pairs that I religiously switch between. I also don't want to track much outside dirt into the house, so I switch into slippers when I come in the front door, so they can get lined up and I know which pair gets used next.

I have to set these little habit traps for myself, or else I'd literally eat the same thing every day, wear t-shirts until they're in shreds, reread the same books...

Our wings are not tired.

99% of the time I wear sandals, but when I wore real shoes I found having the best socks made a real difference. Brendon goes through shoes at 10x the rate I do because he is huge, but having a rotation helps a lot.

I remember the crazy days. 500 posts an hour. Nubmer! Natgbsb

My dog, is there anything more mind numbingly burning on a Monday morning than a backlog of required IT security videos???

Woke up to the strong smell of smoke, though nothing was smoky throughout the house. Ran around checking, including the cellar! Stepped outside, could smell it strongly though no sirens or ominous smoke or firelight on the horizon.

Checked social media -- grass fires comfortably far off.

Still not a great start to the day.

Yikes that would be a scary way to wake up!! I recently saw a video about how a lot of fires start from bathroom fans that are full of dust and now I’m paranoid but not enough so that I’ve actually figured out how to, say, clean the fans.

I accomplished nothing this weekend. Which was nice but also I really should’ve done one or two things other than laundry and sitting on the couch watching TikTok or reading. Go for a run, or errands or cooking. Kicking myself a bit, because this is a rather busy week and I wish I’d set myself up better.

Happy birthday Aurelia!
