Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

My classroom has a chair now! And it's a pretty good chair, too. I do have to be careful not to trip over the cord that's used to chain it to the desk, though.

Our wings are not tired.

It does sound like securing it was a good plan. I'm happy to hear it finally happened.

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

I've procrastinated on self-review as long as I could. Can I answer "How have you demonstrated the strong planning, organization, and management skills necessary for effectively managing your direct reports?" with "Shit got done, didn't it?"

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Absolutely.

You guys, I'm watching Big Brother (I know) and Jerry O'Connell is substitute hosting because Julie Chen has covid (but she'll be back next week? OK, CDC), and one of the contestants on the show is named Quinn and says, "I was named for your character on Sliders," and... I guess that is literally true. He was born while Sliders was on the air!

Anyway, also glad to hear about Matt's mother and Steph's trip and Hil's chair and David's productiveness! Sympathies on the rest.

We're all getting played with, babe. -Weird Barbie

I LOVE that your DC chained it to your desk, Hil. That's amazing.

Have great trips, travelers!

Yay Matt's mom!

I also have a piece of good news I've been too scared to say anywhere publicly...but the condo is under contract again, and it's supposed to close later this month. The selling price is $30K less than I originally listed it for back when the market was hot in the spring, but I DON'T CARE so long as it actually sells and I can start paying off debt. I have been burned too many times to get too excited until I actually see the money hit my bank account. But I'm cautiously optimistic.

Unusually and exceedingly peculiar and altogether quite impossible to describe

Man, it’s 10:49 pm in Colorado, but my body is on Eastern time, so it feels like 12:49 am, AND YET I can’t fucking fall asleep. I got out of bed and I’m downstairs curled up under a fleece-y throw on the couch, waiting for sleepy meds to kick in. Insomnia is a jerk.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Okay, I've got almost all my paperwork together. Need to wake Matilda up to finish one form.

Then we have to hit FedEx to copy a few more things then we're off to Sausalito Post Office to have an Official Passport Officer give the approval.

Then we drive back across the GG Bridge and drop the other paperwork off at Passport Depot (the expeditors).

Maybe hit Target on the way home and then I will have finished the last hoops in this Steeplechase of a week.

Wish me smooth bureaucracy!

Holy wow. Just talked to my work-assigned mentee through our gay group at work. She’s like, 23 and we’ve only talked a couple times before. Apparently since we last talked, her cousin peaced out on her kids, and the mentee has taken them in—triplet 15 year old girls. Wow. I can’t even imagine. I mean, easier than triplet two year olds or something, but still!!
