Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I think MA already had scantron by the time I was old enough to vote, but luckily I was in PA where they had the good machines! Despite how satisfying the ka-chunk is, I do think the paper ballots are the best.

Bring back the old fashioned lever machines and more people will enjoy voting. (ka-CHUNK!)

This. Though I agree that hand-marked paper ballots are best, at least from a voter fraud perspective.

That's right, no one even mentioned clafoutis and I'm here. Hi, everyone!

I guess I'm here to spread more anecdotal positivity. Just got off the phone with my college roommate and her husband. He stated he is definitely voting for Harris as are many of his friends and colleagues. A lot of "What is even going on with this party anymore?" kind of talk happening. That is definitely a change. He's never been a fan of Trump but I'm pretty sure he's never voted Dem before. As some of you know, most of my friends from college are conservative (well, "old-school" Republicans anyways), including his college roommate (and my former friend), who worked in Trump's WH. They live in Washington so their vote doesn't particularly matter but I found the way he talked about it very encouraging.

Ha! And also hi! And that does sound likes good sign.

I came home almost in time to watch the debate, turned it on for a few minutes and remembered that at the best of times it’s not a format I enjoy so that I’ll just listen to the end of The House in the Cerulean Sea and flit through social media for commentary

I accidentally came to my neighborhood diner for food after the concert and the debate is on. Argh.

Our wings are not tired.

I watched every minute of the debate and I could rewatch so many times. She had a list and she checked off every box from forcing him into the handshake at the start to having his wild rant at the end. I am over the moon. he chomped on every bit of bait she threw out. It could not have been better. With Taylor Swift frosting on top.

State. Who knows what the future will bring? Having sent their fourth son (!) off to college, they are now empty nesters!

Also hi!!!

Hello!

I watched every minute of the debate and I could rewatch so many times. She had a list and she checked off every box from forcing him into the handshake at the start to having his wild rant at the end. I am over the moon. he chomped on every bit of bait she threw out. I watched via Twitter as per usual and it was a delight. I look forward to the many resulting memes.

The memes are brilliant. Many pet eating varieties.

Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

I really appreciated this.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

I reviewed KD Spangler’s Bluesky thread on the debate, and I got the impression that Harris whacked Trump all over the debate stage like Serena Williams smashing a tennis ball at Wimbledon. Which was a nice thing to wake up to.
