"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

So I'm on the phone with Apple help and they're trying to help me reinstall MAC OS through the Start Up options that Tom suggested.

And I'm most of the way through and there's an Activation Lock noting "this Mac is linked to an Apple ID and password previously used on this Mac."

Except the Apple ID is her old work email at UCSF which has been discontinued. So...we're stuck again.

I've had to submit a request to remove the Activation Lock.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

How infuriating -- this is a computer you legitimately own, too.

Work had a ballroom dancing instructor for the residents (they're really GOOD with the elderly infirm, and a couple of the men and women had The Moves back in the day) so there was fun dance music while I worked on my paperwork, and finally gave in and took a spin. I'm pretty terrible, but no toes were stepped upon and I was laughing hard, too.

Oh, and while I was out shopping for the residents, there was an amateur marching band practicing up and down the shopping mall sidewalks. It might have been School of Honk, I know I've seen that polka-dotted tuba before. Just loverly random!

(Still angry and want to argue with someone, but Reminded There Is Hope Still.)

I remember the crazy days. 500 posts an hour. Nubmer! Natgbsb

I just keep crying, then get snippy with people. People are being really annoying though.

Thrive to spite them

I had to take Scrappy to the vet. Mystery wound/infection/thing but he got his rabies updated. And early this morning he did allow me to pick him up and cuddle him some.

I also discovered that I have been paying for Spectrum Essential TV since Jan and haven't used it. $30 a month just gone. I cancelled it. Then I got a call from a debt collector, apparently I hadn't paid a medical bill and was ignoring the mail.

And then I looked at how much I spend on food during my work day and working where I can just buy stuff easily makes me forget how much I'm spending. I need to seriously cut back. I'm acting like I'm made of money.

I also bought a few things from Amazon Prime day but I got some things we needed (new electric razor for M, new electric toothbrush for me) plus I got a few. So maybe not kind of up and down on the financial responsibility scale. One of the Loop ear plug styles was on sale so I want to try it , especially for around the house. What I have now isn't comfortable if I'm trying to lay on my side.

I've been trying to stay off social media as much as possible and while I miss some things it has done wonders for my mood. So as much as I miss certain accounts on IG (mainly the dude who found the cat in the parking lot near a nature trail and immediately bonded with the cat and then everyone has kind of bonded with him) and the Kendrick/Drake beef that keeps on giving and a few others I need to stay off of it. I just ended up with algorithm feeding me more and more conservative content. I have tried to correct that by engaging in very not conservative content but it hasn't worked and it just feeds me more and more home school, raw milk home steading nonsense.

Speaking of social media I'm reading ADHD is Awesome by Penn and Kim Holderness and it's really good. You can tell it was designed by someone with ADHD because it has infographics, doodles, random quizzes, color coded chapters.

It's a good mix of personal anecdotes and solid information and a good balance of the struggles and benefits of ADHD.

The ADHD book sounds useful. I hadn't realized how many ADHD traits I have until the past few years -- which is why I do well with single tasks at work -- get a ride, give the ride -- and not as good with scheduling them.

Laura is on the road and asked me to pass along that today is the auspicious date that brought juliana into the world!

Happy, Happy Birthday, juliana! And may the year ahead be stupendous.

I’d be lying if I didn’t say that I miss them all tonight…

Thank you thank you!

It's been a pretty good day so far - I got to take a run in the lovely cool fog, work is non-onerous, I had a lovely cardamom coffee & vegetarian quiche from one of my favorite coffee shops in the neighborhood, & we're going to go to Scoma's for dinner.

What an excellent start to the day! Happy Birthday!

I did not go running in the cool fog this morning, but I did get up early and go out and walk to a further away cafe so I could get some steps in first thing.

Matilda's friend Veronica just came over. Matilda's assignment: hype Veronica up and do her hair in advance of seeing Veronica's ex who broke her heart.
