Angel: Connor, this is Spike and Illyria. Guys, this is Connor. Connor: Hi. umm...I like your outfit. Illyria: Your body warms. This one is lusting after me. Connor: Oh...no, I--I--it's just that it's the outfit. I guess I've had a thing for older women. Angel: They were supposed to fix that.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

I wish I could have seen Patrick Stewart’s Prospero. (For all its faults, the Trempest is my favorite Shakespeare play.) All the online tributes for Sir Pat have had me verklempt.

It's actually been a really hard year, when you stop and do the math. Eliot would cry, too, if it didn't take him seventy minutes of therapy, two cocktails, and a Sondheim medley before he can experience a human emotion through the haze of his PTSD.

Oh, Trudy, you reminded me that I was lucky enough to see him perform Othello at the Shakespeare Theater at the Folger around 1990 -- it was a great performance, and I remember also being utterly struck by Andre Braugher's performance as Iago -- it was the first I'd seen or heard of Braugher, and he was amazing. The two of them together is one of my favorite theater memories.

Wow, that must have been incredible. What a great experience!

Oh, I meant to mention to the Midnight Burger people (and anyone else interested in an audio drama podcast with short episodes): if you're looking for something to fill the Midnight Burger gap, we've started listening to McGillicuddy and Murder's Pawn Shop. It's set in the 1920s, and it's magical realism/period drama/dark comedy. The podcast is narrated and performed by one woman, and the episodes are about 10 minutes. I think there's 5 seasons.

It's entertaining, the narration is maybe just a *bit* on the twee side, but it's clever and a good story.
