Shir! Wonderful to see your post. Congratulations on the exciting move. I hope your cat travels well. Mine have easily endured long trips twice a year between Florida and New York.
I'm disappointed that Alex Vindman didn't win the Senate primary in Florida. I thought he at least had some chance in the general. I'll still vote for Angie Nixon, but it's a huge hurdle to get that seat. I think Jolly has a good shot at Governor, particularly with Gwen Graham running with him. Who knows. Florida has had quite a number of impressive blue-toned shifts lately, but I don't want to get my hopes up.
Coffee:
Today would be my mom's 105th birthday. I surely have told the story before, but we figured out that her real birthday was the 14th when she was in her 60s, so we still continued to celebrate on the 19th out of habit. The handwritten birth record looked like 19, but she had heard stories all her life about her mom giving birth at home and her aunts going to fetch the doctor from his home after Sunday mass. Back 40 years ago or so, when we got a new fangled fancy calculator that would tell you the day of the week for any date we put in her birthday, and it came up Friday; she was adamant that she was born on Sunday. We believe her grandmother, aunts, and uncles over the 'official' record.
Congratulations, Shir! What are your digital humanities plans? There are so many fascinating projects out there.
“reports and charts,” and each time, I think, “files and records.”
(It's my job.)
Shir, how exciting!! I hope the cat forgives you for the flight.
A is in their last week of sailing camp and this is the series of texts I came back to in the family chat after my last meeting:
A: Guys
A: I have bad news.
A: I may have lost my glasses in the river.
my dad did that(In a lake, though)
He was supposed to be working but he...kind of took a networking day.
And that's how my mother found out about it.
probably forty years later, she could still get mad about it, too.
People at work are going to be stoked because PDA endorsed Nixon. I understand she has a great team on the ground, which my immediate supervisor loves above all things.
Oh no, A! I’m surprised they aren’t required to have those floaty chain things on their glasses! Good thing it’s the last week?

I don't want to get my hopes up because this is going to be an uphill battle for sure. At least her opponent isn't popular.
"...may have...." ???
Are they dragging the river with grappling hooks?
Or are they light-weight plastic glasses that may float to shore somewhere?
The glasses are gone. Aeryn is wearing their old pair (which we kept as a backup) and replacements in the current prescription are on the way.
The hipster sweater with a fox on it was delivered and it is so fucking cute on me! No picture yet because I really need a shower first.
