Fascinating, in a slightly AU sort of way Chez Moi. Could my body stop coming up with new ways to...kind of make me miserable? Cause I thought I had that parasite thing for a hot minute--I don't think so because of the lack of fever and achiness, etc. But OMG. Literally insult to injury.

I know that's an associated risk but the amount I'd be borrowing vs. my assets is fairly manageable.
lisah, if you do establish a snack station upstairs may I suggest a metal breadbox if you don't go with a mini fridge?Unless you wish to share said snacks with wee urban wildlife.
askye, E is indeed lucky to have you in his corner.
May the humididity ease up for those of you dealing with it. It has been surprisingly cool here for this time of year, and I heartily approve.
David, I'm terribly jealous of your clean and org of your nerdhole. I need to do the same.
I was saddened to hear about Mantooth's death. He did a lot of raising awareness of tribal issues as well as showing up at cons for Emergency fans, and first responder meetings.
There are umpty-two things that need to be done around here. Really? I just want a nap.
I just got back from the grocery store because I did not have olive oil or basil in my house. Now I am shocked to discover I don't have any chopped garlic!! Things I just assume I always have I just don't here. Not going the 20 miles to the store again as I am confident my nephew will have garlic. Also have to go through my list of staples I expect to find before I make the trek back to the store.
I can’t imagine having to go that far to get to the store!!
I went to see the Odyssey today with my gf. She wanted to see it in imax. It was SO LOUD. I kept having to plug my ears because I couldn’t take it. Good grief. It also made me think of seeing Troy many many years ago with Suela and…I think fleas sister?
I think fleas sister?
Nutty?
I can’t imagine having to go that far to get to the store!!
It is quite the opposite from Fort Lauderdale where I pass Trader Joe's, Whole Foods, and a bunch of other grocery options twice a day on my way to and from the dog park. There is a grocery 12 miles away, but in a tourist town with nutso prices.
I went to see the Odyssey today
We went to see it Friday night at the local Strand. There is a comfy love seat at the back of the room that I snagged with my nephew for a comfy viewing. He works there during the summer. We go to every single movie we can to support the sweet old hippie couple who restored the place. I have a few of the cards that you can buy for $55 for 10 visits. We bought a bunch during Covid when they had to close to help out. As did most of the local community.

That was fun! I'm sure a lot of us have daydreamed about having our own movie palace to program.
Tiny self-brag, if I may:
Yesterday my friend had her 50th birthday party at a photography studio that has like 10 backdrops in different color schemes/themes with tons of props, which was a lot of fun! I wore a dress I've had for a couple of years, and the thing about wearing the same dress across different years to events where you get photographed (weddings, reunions, photo shoot birthday party) — and apparently I always stand in the same pose — is that when I look at 2 pictures taken a year apart, WOW, okay, now I can tell that I've lost 42 pounds.
Like, I could tell a little bit before, especially in my face (we will not speak of my 55-year-old neck and whatever the fuck it thinks it's doing), and I have been taking my measurements, so I know the direction things are going, but even looking in the full-length mirror at home, it's just not super obvious, because I see myself in the mirror every day, and incremental change over time isn't easy to notice. But 2 pictures in the same dress, same pose, 13 months apart, and — yeah, I can see it. That's pretty gratifying.
Anyway, photo shoot party: tons of fun! One of my friends called it "a grown-up princess party without tea," which is pretty accurate, because we all dressed up, wore tiaras, and ate super fancy cupcakes. (And drank a shit ton of water, because it's fucking July and staying hydrated is no joke.)
