More USPS shenanigans with delivery of my (anti-) cancer medication.
Order placed on Wednesday 2026-06-17
- 2026-06-20 4:33 a.m. - Departed USPS Facility YBOR CITY FL DISTRIBUTION CENTER
- 2026-06-21 1:54 a.m. - Arrived at USPS Facility ST LOUIS MO PACKAGE SORTING CENTER
- 2026-06-21 6:42 p.m. - Arrived at USPS Facility KANSAS CITY KS DISTRIBUTION CENTER
So, far so, good. My expectation was that it would travel a few miles across the state line to the Kansas City MO distribution center and then from there up the interstate to my local post office, with delivery as forecast on Wednesday the 24th.
But nooooo....
- 2026-06-22 3:19 p.m. - Arrived at USPS Facility DES MOINES IA DISTRIBUTION CENTER
Two possibilities come to mind. Either 1) the truck made it to my local post office, but the package didn't get unloaded and the truck proceeded on its route north along the interstate, or 2) the truck went directly up the interstate to Des Moines IA, which means it passed by within 300 yards of my apartment. Had I known, I could have waved.
- 2026-06-24 4:27 p.m. - Arrived at Post Office DES MOINES, IA 50395
So it didn't get sent straight back. After two days it ended up at a Des Moines IA local post office!
- 2026-06-25 11:46 a.m. - Departed USPS Facility DES MOINES IA DISTRIBUTION CENTER
It spent almost three full days in Iowa.

Two locations and one full day in Omaha, Nebraska.
- 2026-06-26 6:42 a.m. - Arrived at USPS Facility KANSAS CITY MO DISTRIBUTION CENTER
Different interstate, does not pass near me.
- 2026-06-26 6:43 a.m. - Departed USPS Facility KANSAS CITY MO DISTRIBUTION CENTER
One minute turnaround!

Three days late, but it got here.
::whew::
Damn. I get upset when I lose things like skin cream and t-shirts. Can't even imagine having that get misdirected.
It had been a few weeks between stomach upsets...had started to think I was, if not done forever, getting a handle on it. Not exactly, argh.
(Although I have felt worse the next day than this. Not exactly feeling those thrilling precinct-commitee calls, though.)
Dcp, that sounds horrible.
Um, I just bought a car. It is a 2023 Hyundai Kona. I test drove a bunch, and this is sort of against advice, but it was the most comfortable, and also, I get impatient with doing things like that, so I gave myself one week. I think I will miss my uncle driving me, though, but I had to be able to move about freely to schedule things.
Sounds good, Sophia.
Did my volunteer work even though I didn't feel 100%. Would be great if I were rewarded with great luck for that, but it was just all right. A real non-event.
Even before the current intentional gutting of the USPS, it had been my experience that the more urgent the need for a shipment, the greater the odds of ridiculous fuckery happening somewhere along the way. Scoured the globe to buy out-of-date software from a third party retailer for a project that can only use that version? Package goes on a world tour. Cheap plastic flowers from Temu that I'm not sure I *want* in my kitchen window? Package appears on my doorstep days earlier than expected.
Glad to hear your meds did finally make it to you, dcp.
Phew indeed, dcp. Don't need all the extra stress.
Sending tummy~ma, Erika.
Go Sophia! A comfortable Hyundai sounds like a good choice.
Yeesh, dcp. Package delivery seems like something we as a country should be pretty good at by now.
I think my brother's new car is a Hyundai.
He also had to pick fast because his previous car got hit by a semi--the truck drivers were screwing around and hit it while it was parked, at least. (that was drama for last year--this year was his cat getting radiation, but the cat seems to be doing well for having a benign thyroid tumor removed, or shrunk, or whatever.
-ma much appreciated, Laura. Thanks.
Ugh, dcp I hate that. I finally found a company to send me my medical supplies every month with no drama (after the last big fiasco), and I keep waiting for the catch.
Happy birthday wishes to David today! I hope you spoil yourself today and enjoy your time with your children. Let us know what movie you choose. May this year bring an abundance of joy and laughter.
