Our wings are not tired.

Last night's Knicks v Spurs game was total insanity. I'm not invested in either team, but that was wild. I always watch on delay, so I zoomed through all the commercials and time-outs, which made for an even more intense roller coaster.

Where do you come from? Where do you go? What is your scene, baby? We just gotta know.

That was *exactly* like watching the Mets’ World Series game 6 in 1986.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

So I went to a Belle and Sebastian concert last night. (Great! I got to dance on stage at the end.)

Came home, winding down after midnight and I get a panicked call from Matilda. She's passed out at a horror movie, whacking her head on the way down and cutting her scalp.

I get her boyfriend to Uber her home and he's like, "I think she needs to go to the ER."

And I'm like, "I'm not taking her to an ER in San Francisco after midnight unless she's got a geyser of brains shooting out of her head."

(Yes, I still have some PTSD from taking JZ to the ER and not being able to get past the waiting room for hours while she was in terrible pain, and then her being on a gurney in the hallway for three nights.)

So I immediately made an appointment for Urgent Care first thing. Cleaned out the wound, cut a bandage to size, and wrapped it with one of her terrycloth hair bands she uses to keep her hair out of her face while she's doing skincare.

And now we're going to Uber over to Urgent Care in a few minutes to get her stitched up.

It's just a shallow gash but it's about 2 inches long.

Yikes! Let us know what they say at Urgent Care. I totally agree on the ER decision!

Does she have an issue with fainting? I did when I was a teen, but grew out of it.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

The fainting was entirely a reaction to the horror movie.

But I also fainted a few times as a teen.

Which horror movie?

That which does not kill you should RUN

Yikes, poor Matilda's noggin!

I got to dance on stage at the end.

This is very cool, though!

Ooof, poor Matilda!

I echo Scola: which horror movie?

The artist formerly associated with cupcakes.

Please send ~ma my way; today I meet with the physical medicine and rehabilitation doctor about my fucked up back and hips. Mr. Loomycakes and I are going to try to restrain our ire and frustration, but we've been trying to get answers/help about these issues since Nov. last year, but thanks to the impossibility of getting timely appointments scheduled, it's been a long road. And here we thought I would have had some sort of treatment before we go to the UK at the beginning of July.

The appointment with the previous doctor, the one who referred me to today's person, was in March. That was a consultation. Today's appointment is another consultation. Look, people, you have all my goddamn MRIs, why can't you give me some sort of treatment *today*?

grrrrr. Hello, I'm wearing metaphorical crankybloomers today.

Punishingly Intricate

I’m not sure why a horror movie would make someone faint. Maybe standing up too quickly to run out of the theatre? Anyway, I hope Matilda’s noggin is ok and she doesn’t have concussion!

Atropa, a friend just had her hip replaced after years of annoying failed attempts to get back/hip pain addressed and she is doing awesome! Obviously, joint replacement is a major operation and the recovery period is no joke but it can be life changing. I am getting my left knee replaced in a few weeks (& hopefully right knee a couple months after). I’m nervous about it but really looking forward to walking without pain again.
