I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

My sister and I went to Wisconsin for my great-niece’s dance recital. It was fun! Then, just before coming back, my sister learned that there was a major water main break in their town, so they may be without water for two weeks. They don’t want to move in here (and my apartment would be small for three people, two dogs, and a cat). But they are going to be coming by for showers every night, and getting by with bottled water for drinking, and disposable eating ware at home. My sister hates cooking, so she does not mind takeout and tv dinners for the next two weeks, but I’ll probably have them over a few times for something closer to a meat and two veg. Anyway, unexpected family time is unexpected! I’m glad I can do more than text them “gee, that sucks” from NC.

I remember the crazy days. 500 posts an hour. Nubmer! Natgbsb

I got way behind. It’s been a while since that happened. I miss yall.

Recovery thought for Tim and Matt.

Trudy, I am so sorry. You are such a good carer and I know the last few years have been full of closeness.

Sophia, much love to you and your uncle. Sudden and unexpected is tough. Be gentle with yourself and it is likely that nothing will feel “right”.

Dana, keeping you all in my thoughts. Safe travels.

Belated birthday wishes to Karl. May this year be the start of upward trends.

I’ve missed people, I know.

Meara, I hope the ceremonies went well and held at least some comfort.

CALLI! Congratulations!! Woohoo!

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

msbelle with a meara!

A sentence that only makes sense to us.

(AIFG)

Matilda broke the door to our garden and my contractor just pinged me because they don't have any replacement doors that look the same. And it's a small bummer because I don't really want it to look different. But we work with what we've got.

Grey morning in San Francisco but I'm dressed and ready for Pilates.

The more I learn, the more I realize how little I know.

Matilda broke the door

Story?

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

Aw Dana, I'm so sorry.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Story?

It's the side door (facing the street) to the back yard and garden apartment.

You enter with a keypad code not a key.

Matilda and her bestie, Iris, were in the garden apartment and wanted to get snacks.

So they went out to the local corner store in a light rain.

Matilda did not bring her keys.

When they got back they used the code and it unlocked but the door had swollen in the rain and they couldn't get it open. And the rain started coming harder. And she did not bring her keys so she couldn't go through the front door and then back down to the garden apartment.

So they threw their tiny little 5'3" 110 lb bodies at the door (imagine the scene in Princess Bride where Westley is futilely throwing his body at a door to break it down until Fezzik needs to smack it down). Eventually they break the the woodframe around the door. After which it won't lock or close properly and our street facing door has been held close only by a 20 Lb barbell rammed up behind it.

Anyway it's now being replaced.

Our wings are not tired.

Aww, that's sad. I hope the replacement is to your liking.

Ah, well, needs must. Good story though. "Remember that time...."

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Aw, bummer about the door but that is a good story

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

New door is up! It looks fine. Tomorrow they finish painting it and put in the keypad lock.
