Giles: I'm sure we're all perfectly safe. Dawn: We're safe. Right. And Spike built a robot Buffy to play checkers with. Tara: It sounded convincing when I thought it.

Nobody has posted in over 24 hours?? What’s even going on? (I’ve been chilling in small town Illinois with my dads cousins who I can’t remember how we are related for his funeral…)

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Dammit, people, meara needs some chatter.

I was cooling my heels at home and feeling restless and bored so I went over to Alembic (my local bar) at 9pm. Much later than I usually do.

Wound up talking to a very interesting woman at the bar for 2.5 hours. She's a musician who just got back from Salzburg, lives in Chicago and plays ukelele in a cover band that that does The Cure.

So that was way more fun than bored at home.

Our wings are not tired.

Been too busy doing not a whole lot. Air show is this weekend so traffic is insane. Son is over to watch the show. We have prime viewing from our balcony.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Yesterday I got my hair cut and picked up Dylan from the train station (he is home for the summer, yay!) Then I made bread and bagel dough so I could bake this morning. The bagels were overproofed and have collapsed into flagels (or possibly my starter wasn't strong enough to lift low-hydration dough) but they taste fantastic.

Today is the annual plant sale at the farmstand where my CSA is, but I do not have the spoons for dealing with any more gardening this month.

Right now I am trying to make a menu so I can go grocery shopping but my brain is refusing to imagine any food I might want to eat in the future that isn't bread. Maybe I'll make some ciabatta and see if that helps.

I mean, living off bread could be worse. But maybe consider if you need to have accompaniments for your bread, like butter or cheese or jam.

I haven't trusted science since I saw the film "Flubber."

We're preparing here for my MIL to die. We'll likely head south to them (NC) tomorrow.

That's a rough Mother's Day. I'm sorry, Dana.

Punishingly Intricate

Sending love, Dana.

Msbelle and I were on the very windy eastern shore yesterday biking/supporting bikers doing Ride for the Feast. I only did 35ish miles before the wind and my bad knees said no more. We raised a bunch of money though so that’s what’s important.
