Oh, smacked in the noggin with a 2x4 wrapped in velvet. Yeah, that's what it felt like.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

stapling it to the bulletin board of his chest wall is the best way to fix it.

Surprising only because 2026 still feels like a future sci-fi-only year to me, surely we ought to have flying cars and medicine that works by waving a glowy thing in front of the patient by now??

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

I’m for glowing medical stuff. But if stapling construction paper to the bulletin board works, I’m for that, too.

I would like some magical wand make everyone healthy something, really. That would be good.

Jeez Tim’s lung! Ridiculous! Glad Ethan’s thing wasn’t a thing but still startled people have kids old enough to be moving in and out of dorms. When I go to the “on this day” on fb and 10 years ago is not all that long ago, etc.

Yesterday I bought picture frames at goodwill to put up at my parents’ funeral. Just as my mother would’ve wanted. (Then today I accidentally broke one so ended up ordering two more overnight from Amazon and those two were probably just as cheap as the goodwill ones but whatever). Got some nice photos printed up to display, and a few smaller ones to scatter about, that wouldn’t have looked good in 8x10. Also saw Devil Wears Prada 2 yesterday, which was fun. Though again, how was the original 20 years ago???

Our wings are not tired.

On my list is watching the first Devil Wears Prada since I somehow missed that. Then 2.

Have a delightful Monday all and try and stay healthy, please.

Brendon is off to Jury duty against his will. I delayed it for him his first notice because he truly was swamped, but told him if he wanted to delay it again he'd have to do it himself. We have a difference of opinion on the obligation to serve, you might say. Anyway, he didn't delay it, and he was still sleeping when I saw it on my calendar, although I reminded him every single day last week. So he will be late, but I expect he won't be alone in that regard. We are very close to downtown Ft. Lauderdale and the courthouse, but I imagine Monday morning traffic is nuts. Oh well, a bed of his own making. We shall see if he ends up in the pokey.

eta: He just showed up 45 minutes late. His level of annoyance at the whole ordeal is only amusing me. It's a good thing he can't see me shaking my head at his frustration. Seriously, he even wore sweat pants and a t-shirt although he never goes out that way. We almost never are 180° on issues, but jury duty is apparently one of them. Ha! etaa: He is texting me pictures of the juror waiting area and complaining about the horrible seating and lack of food and drink options. They did not say anything about his tardiness. From his pictures the jurors seem to have all adopted Florida casual attire. T-shirts, shorts, and so forth.

I made it to Connecticut! I am basically vacationing beyond my plans at this point, because planning more than two weeks is impossible, who could do that? Javachik is a gracious host with a gorgeous house (so many windows and all of them looking out on bird feeders or trees or charming vistas of some sort).

Decided to pop into Slack just to make sure I still can and my boss’s last day is this Friday, do I don’t know what I’m going back to.

Do not have to think about that right now…

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

We just found out that Tim is going to have surgery today at 1:00. It's the surgery that basically sticks the lung to the chest wall so hopefully the lung won't collapse again. We knew surgery would be today or tomorrow , and there was a cancellation, and he hadn’t eaten yet today, so they scheduled him in.

They said it's a simple procedure that takes about 60-90 minutes. He could be home by Wednesday, or maybe a little later, but almost certainly by the end of the week.

I'll update you guys when the surgery is over. Send surgery~ma!

All the lung-ma!

Much surgery ~ma sent. And calm~ma for you.

Jury duty update was that he was called to a courtroom an hour and a half ago, so he is a) going to be dismissed b) going to the pokey or c) being seated. We shall see. He is going to be complaining for a week.
