You have to remember that being a 5-time Olympic medalist means Hilary Knight has been playing hockey at an elite level at least 16 years. It's impossible for her to be a teenage girl less than 16 years old, thus the President's complete lack of interest.

It's currently 33°F here, so if you want to send us 30 degrees of your surplus I'd be game.

The Oscars (or at least what wasn't interrupted by storm coverage in my area) were pretty good. I'd have liked to see Sinners win more, particularly for Delroy Lindo, but it won the awards where I really thought it mattered most—Score, original Screenplay, and Best Actor (meaning Leo and Ratboy lost!). And Amy Madigan won, though I wouldn't have been mad if Best Supporting Actress had gone to Wunmi Mosaku. Conan's cold open was pre-empted for me, but I did catch it on Youtube afterwards.

I hadn’t seen any of the movies (other than the short films, where there was a tie! The people exchanging saliva film was SO WEIRD) but agree I was surprised/sad Sinners didn’t win more!

I had a fine weekend but dang, I hate that it keeps being Monday. I feel like I am not rested even though I have gotten plenty of sleep and have not actually been very stressed lately. Probably I need a vacation. Sadly, I do not have one planned, and instead have a big dance event next weekend (which should be fun but will also be exhausting).

Speaking of UTIs... Teppy (or anyone else) what do you think of the home UTI test strips? I was thinking we might get a batch and just test every few days since everything goes so completely clown shoes so fast whenever Mommy gets one.

Thrive to spite them

I've used the test strips a bunch and I think they are pretty accurate.

I had my first dental cleaning since my deep cleaning and my gums are healing ! Yay. They have this new scan they do now so it makes a 3D scan and you can see it on screen in full color .

Since this is up in Brevard I came up last night after work which was good because there was a major storm this morning. Hail! Lightning! Wind! Mom want to McDonald's this morning and there was tree that had fallen over 4 employees' cars .

The condo next to mom is for sale for $239k the woman who lived there for 40 years has passed away. Around the corner is another condo for sale for $249k. These are under 900sq feet. The condo around the corner sold in 2018 for $70,000. That's how crazy the housing prices are in Brevard.

Trudy has your mom tried taking D-mannose supplements? It's what makes cranberry juice effective against UTis and my urologists have suggested I take it to help prevent a UTI or during one to shorten the duration.

askye, I'll take a look! Thanks!

In excellent news, March 16th is National Artichoke Day and the vegetarian entrée in our dining room is Artichoke Francese. For future knowledge, anyone who wishes to fry artichoke hearts and serve them to me with a lemony sauce and some parmesan polenta should do so.

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

Trudy, pre-emptively testing for a UTI seems like a good idea in your mom's case, because it could head off any problems before they have a chance to turn into huge problems. (My own dad has a UTI and still hasn't seen a doctor for it, which means he's going to go crazy if he hasn't already — literally crazy, like hallucinating people in his apartment — and I've had a cold since last week [thanks, Tim] that just keeps getting worse, so I don't have the capacity to go physically wrangle Dad to the doctor. I expect him to hit Code Blackwatch Plaid by Thursday.)

Also it was in the 70s yesterday and it's snowing now, which is some kind of bullshit. I feel personally attacked by the snow.

Yyyyup. I feel like if I had a Senior facility of any sort they'd be peeing in cups twice a week. Once when mom was in rehab and looped out I looked in the day room and thought "Do half these people just have UTIs?" Its staggering.

"already on the kiss-cam with Karl Marx"-

Goldenseal root can be good too. Also, naturally decongesting. It might seem like a cranberry supplement might be a good addition in some places. It would seem that a bladder thing would be hard to miss, but even as a middle-aged disabled person, I've had people shrug off my shit, like, "You know you have brain damage that affects most of your body, right?" when I think "Yeah, I told *you* that."(And that includes *skin conditions* and other things that, in retrospect, seem on the sloppy side to act that way about.) So maybe you get old and say "Man, it just seems like I'm peeing all the time," and maybe some doctors tell you you're not a spring chicken or something.
