Argh, Tom, I hope that works out okay.
All y’all stay safe and warm!
I feel like I should add a disclaimer: whenever I say “stay safe” or similar I am not instructing anyone to be careful or whatever, it is more in the way of a protective spell powered by hope
Got a notice that the show I was going to see on Sunday has been canceled because of the weather, which I'd kind of expected. My neighborhood is prone to power outages, and I've got enough non-perishable food to last a few days. Also have a bunch of blankets ready.
Ran around being productive yesterday: did Pilates, did laundry, did the dishes, rescheduled an appointment, scheduled two other calls, and thought I was good going into today.
Last night Matilda called me and said the school has not received the tuition payment (they should have gotten this week) and she's no longer officially registered in her classes.
So I scrambled this morning to pay the tuition online, and hope that she can maintain her schedule AND I have to get the office of student accounts to hold the check that got sent in but has not been processed.
Kinda stressy.
But I drove her and her stuff up to campus, and now I just have to vacuum before I'm hanging out with my friend Rachael as we plan our outfits for the Edward Ball Tea next Saturday. That part should be fun.
Her long xmas break is over and second semester awaits. And it's paid for.
We have reached our high temperature of the day today: 9℉ (windchill is -2℉). Snow is still falling. The only birds at the feeder are dark-eyed juncoes, and they are all fluffed up for insulation.
USPS Informed Delivery emailed me that my mail had been delivered (one 1099-INT and one Kickstarter reward), so I bundled up and trudged to the mailbox. The promised mail was not there. Grrrrr.
I am staying in the rest of today, and (if all goes well) all of tomorrow too. Monday morning at oh-dark-hundred I have to drive about 30 minutes away to get an MRI (annual check on my pituitary, to make sure it is still the same size and shape it is supposed to be).
Forecast says we won't get back up to freezing until noon on Monday 02 February. Brrrrr.
The only positive spin I can put on that is that the snow is all dry powder, easy to brush off my car. No nasty stubborn ice to be scraped.
Also noting that I got a Kickstarter reward yesterday, as informed by USPS and also in actuality. Tom Tomorrow’s Our Long National Nightmare which I am glad to have but not in the mood to actually read right now…might be a while
I’m glad for your mom, Trudy.
I’m less glad for your tooth, Tom. I hope you can get it fixed soon.
Today I dragged my butt out the door into -14F weather to help my sister chase after one of the grandnephews (the other was going to a friend’s birthday party). Three hours of running after a toddler is a lot if you don’t do it all the time. He’s a sweet kid who likes us and wants to play. I figure when he hits 13 he’ll be far less interested in hanging with his great aunt, so I’m enjoying it while it lasts. Then there was a couple of hours running around with my sister, and now I’m home, enjoying my comfy sofa.
... -14F weather...one of the grandnephews....
Did you show him the toss-boiling-water-into-the-air-to-make-snow trick?
