Thanks y’all. A few hours later, it still feels weird and also unreal. But then my mom passed two years ago and that still feels unreal sometimes (because I hadn’t lived in the same timezone as her in like 20 years so…surely I just haven’t called recently?)

My condolences, Meara. And I'd say don't feel bad that you have to do things today. I could picture that, when it happens with my father that I might not know for a while...we're kind of not talking.(We had Divorce Christmas, though, but months go by routinely.)
