You can register to vote at the polling place and a number of people were doing that
I love to hear that! I generally like voting in person, but I voted early this time and got my notification that my vote was counted the same day that the DOJ announced they were coming to observe. Too late, suckers!
Lasagne to the rescue! Also love that!
Our household dropped off our ballots a week or so ago, so as not to have any hassles on the day.
I am quite pleased that voting has gotten progressively (!!) easier over my voting lifetime. And wryly noting that I am once again voting in the county where I voted for President for the first time (1988, in Berkeley, for Dukakis. Though, come to think of it, my polling place in that election was the garage of the neighbour down the street, which was quite convenient.)
we just had an override for the school district(otherwise known as stealth taxes...we sneak 'em in, like giving a pet a pill--it's stupid, but it kind of works.)
I just completed my ballot and need to drop it off before the box closes tonight (yay mail in voting, except not actually mailing).
JD Vance's half-brother was running as a mayoral candidate in Cincinnati, but he was defeated pretty soundly, thank god. And it looks like the NYC race was called for Mamdani, hooray! Plus female Democratic governors in Virginia and New Jersey. Pretty fucking good so far!
There are some nice results coming in from the eastern side of the country tonight. Steph, you’re a proud Cincinnatian, right? Congrats on kicking Vance’s half-brother back into whatever hole he crawled out of to try and be mayor.
ETA: jinx!
He didn't just lose; he lost by a HUGE margin! It's so satisfying!
Prop 50 called as a W as polls close.
