I was really surprised to find out about it as well. It's hard to imagine that Tora! Tora! Tora! will ever be displaced as the definitive movie about Pearl Harbor, but Midway could be done so much better. But, yeah, it's hard not to have low expectations from the trailer though.

Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, butt kicking, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
Lots of wrong in the trailer. For one thing, people serving in the US Navy don't refer to their organization as "the American Navy." The CGI shots aren't great, but are still better than trying to pass off a reversed image of the (angle-decked) Lexington II as the Akagi. The original Midway had so much anachronistic stock footage.
day well over half over and I think I am going to take a shower to "wake up".
showered and in a new caftan! annnnnddd back to lounging on the sofa. (wait - I did unload the dishwasher).
I think today is just a wash which means that I must do things tomorrow.
My day was pretty much a wash too. Did one load of laundry. Went to Fire Department rummage sale and scored a couple good things, plus baked goods. Pretty lazy. Tomorrow needs to be better.
Timelies all!
Mr. S woke us up at 3:30 am, and insisted on getting in bed with us. He didn't settle down at all, and Gary put him back in his bed, which he was quite upset by. Everyone is tired.
Theo, actually the nanny was here Mon-Wed of last week as well as this week. Went pretty well, other than him getting some food/beverages that he shouldn't. Next week starts the three week program we got him in. (It runs until 3 Mon-Thurs, and 12 on Fri, so I'm going to be using a fair bit of leave)
Was it Pearl Harbor that gave me "Lipstick of Death"? I think so. With meara &?
Been a long day. Cat bath. Cat pilling. Cat coning. Mad sad cat. Uhg, Want to sleep, not there yet, which sucks because I'll be awake by 6 if I'm lucky to get that long.
Sheryl, that sounds encouraging! I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
I drove a little this morning, but I ended up at Readercon, the local text-focused SF convention where there were some fascinating panels and a bunch of old friends that I caught up with, including an expedition to a dim sum place that had quite a lot beyond the standard Americanized fare including pork tripe, pork trotters, and curried jellyfish. (We tried none of those, thanks be.)
There's a little more today, so I'll get out there by and by.
I did not plan to be up early enough to watch the men's Wimbledon final, but here I am.
Could have been? I have only vague memories but I do remember watching that movie for sure.
