hip deep in pie

Seriously. I mean I've never had anything stolen from my front step, but I've never had anything there longer than a few hours.

The first phone was sent with signature required upon delivery, so I have no idea why this one wasn't.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

I can't not read about the Jeffrey Epstein thing, but it's filling me with so much rage. So much. I want to find people's houses and burn them down. (I would not really do that.)

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Heh. I am overhearing a couple of coworkers talk about some recent game in some sport or other and it took me a couple of minutes to understand that they were not talking about soccer. Like, there are other sports happening now, who knew?

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Well, that was fun.

I was taking a shower and I stepped towards the back of the tub. And in the time it took me to put weight on my left foot I slipped, did a complete 180 and was dumped out of the tub on the bathroom floor.

The main reasons this wasn't a disaster: (a) shower curtain instead of glass door; (2) didn't hit my head going down; (c) foot couldn't plant so I didn't wrench my back.

As it is I have a bruise on my elbow and my shoulder is slightly wrenched from landing on it.

See, when Matilda washes her hair (as she did yesterday before we went to camp) she uses a ton of conditioner which doesn't always drain out of the tub.

So I hit the the hair product equivalent of black ice and spun out.

Time to get some grippy tub stickers.

I adore all you motherfuckers so much -- PMM.

I hope Laura Snyder (childhood friend in TN who was the goalie for our state-champion high school women's soccer team) watched the World Cup and is celebrating appropriately. Or inappropriately, as she chooses.

When I was in high school (1981-85), Title IX was just starting to be a real thing, and I remember vividly how much difference it made to the women athletes in my classes.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Ow! Glad that wasn't worse.

I mean, there's Wimbledon, too, right?

(because it needs its own post)

Oh dear, Hec. I'm glad you weren't seriously injured.

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

As it is I have a bruise on my elbow and my shoulder is slightly wrenched from landing on it.

I feel like the worst pain/bruising will show up after 24 hours, so maybe put ice on your shoulder and/or elbow to keep it from getting a whole lot worse. Also maybe take 4 ibuprofen right now, and again before bed.

I mean, there's Wimbledon, too, right?

Is Wimbledon happening now? Shit, it's July. How did that happen?

Oh, yeah, it is Wimbledon time, isn't it?

Yikes, Hec! I think your physical biorhythms are all off-kilter or something. Bubblewrap and maybe one of those germ-free bubbles for you.

Our wings are not tired.

Tennis! Super 15 year old Coco is from my town, played in the impoverished community center where DH coached the little kids basketball. Very exciting stuff.

In what did I do to get such responsible kids news, son and DIL went to a geneticist today. She had previously met with her Ob/Gyn who suggested the consult. The doctors feel she should get with the baby making soon. They brought all their info and the only real concern is the geneticist feels she should have c-section(s). Big diabetes factors on both sides, but they can do a bunch of stuff to help with that. The concern is with the size of both of them the possibility of huge babies increases and with her EDS that can screw up her hips badly. They are just such planners it amazes me.
