I recently talked to a lady who had had shingles 8 times -- evidently it took until the reliable vaccine came around that it stopped happening every single time she was stressed.

I had shingles in my eye and it was impressive how fast my GP turned me over to the ophthalmologist and washed her hands of me. I was still seeing him six months later.

If I knew that every time I got stressed I would get shingles, I'd be pretty stressed about that.

Seriously.
My mother had shingles, but it wasn't that bad. Which she will insist on telling you, which I actually appreciate! Because everyone's always like, "Oh no! That's terrible!" and she's like, "Meh."
My mom has had shingles twice. I have a small "shingles like" but not really shingles, more a localized chicken pox remenant virus re-emerge when I am stressed ( but how often am I stressed?? Hahaha) actually when my body is stressed, so approx once a month with my cycle if I am in anyway stressed or sick.
It's super annoying and mostly untreatable because viral. The variations of the herpes virus are really a mess.
Both my folks had really bad cases of shingles. My dad all over his face and neck; My mom mostly on her torso. My dad was on pain meds for over a month and not able to do much; My mom pretty much couldn't wear a bra for the duration and had residual issues for the rest of her life.
Get the vaccine.
shingles in their eye
NO NO NO NO NO NO NO DO NOT WANT NO NO
I had shingles last year (boob/armpit area) and it was definitively The Worst. And the pain lasted for months.
I had chicken pox so bad as a kid -- down my throat, literally everywhere -- that if I get shingles, it will seem like a bad sign from the universe. That said, I should get the vaccine.
Amy, it was because I remember having chicken pox that I agreed to get the vaccine. Whole lot of nope at the thought of shingles.
I am growing to hate Bed Bath and Beyond. Their operational processes are cumbersome.
