I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

My lunch is in retrograde. I decided this morning that I wanted falafel for lunch and tried to get some delivered but the restaurant canceled my order. So then I was starving and unable to decide what to eat for a while. Finally picked a replacement, ordered it, around the time it's supposed to be delivered I get a text from the delivery person asking if the restaurant is next to the smoke shop (I don't think it is, but I don't actually know) but a few minutes later he texts again to say he found it. Hooray! But the restaurant apparently told him it would be 10 more minutes before my food is ready.

It's just about been that 10 minutes so I'm really hoping my food will be on it's way soon...

Yes! I have food! Rejoice!

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Yay food!

I am reminded again to be glad I work for an enormous behemoth -- I have a staff issue to deal with, and had talked to my boss about it, but wanted a second opinion, so I just had a 15-minute meeting with our HR person, who was really helpful! I think people don't like her, but I think she's great.

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

Speaking of children, Gary and Mr. S are getting back from Florida today. Mr. S is a challenging child frequently, and we try our best with him. I still need to work on not letting every little thing bug me.

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

Things I don't have this morning: Fever.

Things I do have this morning: An appetite.

So far, so good.

If you've also got power, water, and your luggage you are doing quite well!

ltc is so stubborn.

Apparently I said "I want to do it myself!" enough when I was that age that my mother still quotes it back to me. The upside? That independent streak is a bonus later on.

Is there someplace you can order from so you don't wear yourself out preparing food?

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

Yay! We have a new great-niece! There were 6 great-nephews and only 1 great-niece, but now there's one more. Beckmeyers are going to take over the world.

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

I remind myself daily that this will serve her well later. She's also the kind of kid at 3 years old who just matter of factly tells a school friend that I have crutches because they help me walk when the friend asked. Matter of factly, no big deal.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

I remind myself daily that this will serve her well later.

That's what I told myself with Emmett, a very willful child. And it turned out to be true.

You always do this. We get tipsy, and you take advantage of my love of the scientific method.

a very willful child

Of course he was. Giving a kid a Darth Vader helmet is gonna encourage a turn towards the dark side.

Of course he was. Giving a kid a Darth Vader helmet is gonna encourage a turn towards the dark side.

First of all, that was his Godmother's Darth Vader helmet. Second, he was already very attracted to the dark side. His first toy purchase was a gigantic Sauron who said "We shall build an army worthy of Mordor!" His favorite Batman character was The Joker. And he thought Draco was misunderstood.
