The Amazing Race did Switzerland last week, so there was an amazing amount of beautiful scenery! (I was disappointed that they were supplied with automatic transmission cars, but you can't have everything.)

Apparently I have lots of thoughts about Grease because I talked about it to coworkers today. I ended the big opening number with the whole stage flipping off the audience. I think my show was really god, but maybe now in retrospect not the thing a mid nineties community theatre was looking for! I sodidnt want kids in the show, but we had a lot of them!

Grease was so formative for me. Saw it in fourth grade in the theater, and about 4 more times while it was still running. And yeah, I look at it now and cringe. And wonder why I didn't come out completely fucked up.

I guess it's worth noting that the original stage play version of Grease was wayyyyyy more raunchy than the movie. There was a fascinating piece in Vanity Fair several years ago about how the play came about, and how it was very much an early 70s work with sex/drugs/rape/abortion.

I don't feel like Grease actually is rapey, right? Everyone is an eager participant?

As I mostly remember the soundtrack and not the plot, the "did she put up a fight" bit, was, umm, a bit, wait what.

If you want to do a fun loving 50s musical, I don't think it is Grease!

I am proud that I worked really hard to seed Sandy's transformation as a coming out of her preconceived notions and becoming herself, and the whole show as each person learning who they are.

Pity me. Half hour chat session with Sprint because they are idiots. I switched to a senior account because I'm old and love the discounts more than the aching joints. Anyway, closed one account and opened another. They were supposed to refund me $20, and instead refunded me $180, then sent me a past due notice for $160.

Short version, not enough coffee.

Oh god, my morning was such a mess! It started last night when I realized I forgot to put out the yard waste barrel. Then I heard on the radio first thing that there was a train derailed on my subway line. But I don't take the subway! So I left the house, pulled out the barrel, got a couple of houses down and saw that they had actually already come and taken the yard waste. So I went back and pulled the barrel back up the driveway. Started walking again, but it was raining, so I thought, I'll just take the subway. Rode the escalator one mile down, saw the packed platform, remembered the derailment, took the escalator back up and walked to work! Was many minutes later than I like to be.

Alas, I had a Bad Night with much insomnia and runs to the toilet, so I slept extra late and took my time faffing around with my games and reading.

Which relevant to Jesse's post above, I didn't catch any of the surge fares that must have overflowed like liquid cash to Lyft drivers when the subway is down and the rain is falling. (Of course, I was also out of the traffic, too.)
