"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

ltc hasn't slept in our room since she was 5 months old and got too big for the bassinet. She is screaming to be let out of her room which has childproof handles on the inside.

That's the pain / That cuts a straight line down through the heart / We call it love

We couldn't do room sharing either, after about 5 months. We don't childproof the doors, though (tried that briefly when Jane first started being able to get out of her crib, but it didn't last long). Jane just gets up and comes into our room when she's awake. For a while she was getting up (and waking us up) super early and that was a problem, but we got one of those alarm clocks that turns green when it's OK for her to get up, and were able to institute that pretty successfully, for what that's worth.

My sympathies -- being woken up early by my kids is not exactly one of the joys of parenthood, and waking up to them screaming must be super unpleasant. I hope this phase passes quickly!

Hey. New board.

Everett has taken to getting out of bed, KNOCKING on our door, then opening it, and announcing "I pooped! In my diaper!" between 6 and 6:30 pretty much every morning. More pleasant than screaming, but it's definitely a bewildering way to wake up if I'm in deep.

Calvin and Matilda get up early still but are slightly more likely to play with each other instead of waking us. That part does get better.

How old are your kids now, Gris? I'm not sure I even remembered you had three of them—time flies on the Internet? :)

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Time flies everywhere! I saw one of my mother's old coworkers recently, and the thing I know about her is "four kids under 5." Well, the oldest is 15 now!

brillig

There are people with the last name of Muskrat in Missouri. This doesn't seem like it should happen outside of the Far Side cartoons.

"And that's why God Almighty gave us fire insurance and the public defender".

While I don't agree with some of Nussbaum's analysis on BDS and its impact, this post has a good analysis and background on what it took to host the Eurovision here and why it was, indeed, a small victory against the government. [link]

I've heard people repeating versions of the final sentence in that post in the past 48 hours. I thought it was dark humor until I read this post and Kann's statement on how much money they've cut from original productions for the next few years in order to host the Eurovision without government support.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Doo-de-doo, the 1000+ orders I got in this morning are apparently wrong and need to be voided. I don't know why voiding takes so long, been about 45 minutes so far...can't really do anything else until this is done, either.

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

Mr. S has had his own room(which used to be the library) since we brought him home. His door has something called a door monkey on it, which prevents him from opening it.
