Ha! Good one.

That's a full plate, Cindy. Nothing wrong with a little dumping. L is actually paying for the car since he's had a paid internship for a year. We're just picking up the extra expenses like sales tax, registration, insurance (for now), and that sort of stuff (plus a new stereo so he'll have USB, Bluetooh, GPS and that sort of stuff). He doesn't have his license yet, so this car will become the one he gets his practice in. He's been doing some with his Grandmother (also driving a Fit) and with in my wife's car (by far the newest and nicest car in the family). He's never been able to get the hang of driving my car (with the manual and it's kinda quirky since it has 250,000 miles on it) and hates trying.
Cindy, I am sorry so much is going on. Dumping is kinda what we're here for. Unload and stop carrying it all.
Sara, I know you are hating having to go to Drs. I hope they find a diagnosis quickly and can find a treatment to give you some relief. FWIW, I am hearing good things about CBD oil taken orally and rubbed directly on joints.
Gud, you're a great dad and husband doing all the work to keep aged and high mileage cars up and running. The whole family is working together to get Mac up to $5000 to get himself a used car. He has to save $500 before anyone be will kick in $$ to him and no one will give him the money directly, but btw matching his savings, the $ he saved for the last car that I kept from the sale, and graduation gifts, he will get to $5000 if he saves btw $700 and $1000, I think.
Did I tell y'all he got his job back at the movie theater? Well he did. Good thing since his phone is now his responsibility to pay. He's still not really talking or interacting with me at all, but he's doing stuff with my mom, do that's something.
That's something, msbelle. Is he going to graduate from that alternative school?

Lol! Yes, similar timeframe it seems too!
Our deal with my son were that he only had to pay the first $2500 of a car and our price range was up to $4000. It just so happened the best car I found was $2,500.
That sounds encouraging, msbelle. I'm glad he is communicating with your mother.
Oh did I not post here that he completed all he needed to graduate in the 1st day he went to the alternative school? He is a graduate. I am just trying to find out how to get his diploma.
That sounds super fair Gud. Mac had to save $1500 for the car we bought after he totaled my old Focus. Since I have no mechanical knowledge and neither does he, I am scared to buy anything with too much mileage.
Today my coworkers are learning how aggressive my passive aggressiveness can be. I just sent my 3rd "never mind, I did it myself" email in 2 days. My boss (and their boss) has told me to ask for help, so I am and I am doing it in email so it is documented and they are failing to help or respond and I am documenting that also.
I fully plan to throw them under the bus.
msbelle, I'd say in general a Toyota with high mileage would be okay. I've been driving Toyotas since I was 23 (good god, that's literally 25 years HOW AM I SO OLD). We have 2 Toyotas right now -- one of them is a 2000 Echo with 170,000-ish miles on it, and it's fine for normal everyday stuff. With regular maintenance, they've all been fine (and I've driven all of them long distances -- Ohio to Vermont, Ohio to Florida, etc.).
I know that's just 1 person's experience, but that seems to be the general consensus among Toyota owners.
One day and he graduated?? Whaaaaat. That's nuts I. I mean, yay but what.
