Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

You know you are an adult when a good vacuum makes you happy.

True facts.

What is even happening?

Y'all, I thought my old vacuum worked OK -- not great, but OK. But I just used the new one and pulled one full cat's worth of hair out of my rugs. YIKES.

Jesse what did you end up getting? If you already said, I missed or forgot.

My mother brought carpet samples to the house last weekend. She's been planning to re-carpet her condo.

She bought a new vacuum this week (a Shark) and now she's thinking she might not bother, the carpet looks that much better.

"You can't put a price on the joy of not giving a shit." -Zenkitty

I talked to my mom today, and she told me that my dad was a little upset because he tried to talk to me while I was working remotely at their house, and I didn't respond. I'm 99.9% sure that was when I was in a video conference call, and when I had to yank my headphones off so I could hear him, he waved me off. I probably was abrupt, because conference call.

I'm trying to keep in mind that the way that I work is so different from my dad's experience. It was easier to navigate this before my parents retired.

Ugh, that sounds annoying, shrift.

My sister texted and woke me up this morning, suggesting FaceTime because mom was at her house for brunch. I suggested phone instead, and I think I was very out of it, when we spoke. Ah well. I fell back asleep and managed to sleep in (though I also remember waking up hearing a garbage truck and being very annoyed someone was emptying dumpsters at 5:45AM on a Sunday for fuck's sake).

I also just watched "Wine Country", the new Netflix Amy Poehler/Tina Fey/all those ladies movie. On the one hand, oh lord, that was a little too real. On the other hand, it was...not actually. great movie. A little torn on that.

I also got a Shark! The internet told me to.

Our wings are not tired.

Hmm, I need a vacuum when I get up north. Will have to shop.

Started the day off walking the beach at sunrise again. I hope I can keep it up because it is a great way to start the day. It had rained last night so the sand was packed down more and easier for walking. Annoyed at #1 son because he didn't show up yesterday for the lovely feast his brother made for all of us. His GF didn't want to come because "we hate her", despite her being specifically being invited. So I sent him a picture of the after dinner table set for 8 with the 2 clean place settings unused. Those years of Catholic school must have taught me something about guilting. Also, I do not regret making him feel bad because he deserves it. So there.

I got a Shark a few months ago. It works well enough, although nothing but an exorcism is going to make my apartment carpet look truly clean.

You always do this. We get tipsy, and you take advantage of my love of the scientific method.

I got a shark a few months ago, and it works great. The instruction manual says to clean the filter weekly, which made me realize that I'm probably not their target audience.

What is even happening?

We got one about a month or two ago. I love how it cleans, but while it is self-propelled when it's going forward, I find it heavy, when I'm pulling it back. I was a little concerned about mom getting it, but she's tougher than I am.

Y'all are making me feel like I should shop for a vacuum cleaner. Are you being paid for this??

I've been trying to build a fannish community for myself elsewhere, and while I've made one close friend and have several friendly acquaintances whom I like, mostly the process has just made me appreciate the Buffistas more than ever. The fact that this happened? And we're like this? So many of us? Wow.
