She's terse. I can be terse. Once in flight school, I was laconic.

Punishingly Intricate

Good luck, meara!! Quitting my last job, without having another job in place, is one of the best things I've ever done. Allyson, best wishes for you and your niece and your whole family.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I am proud of myself: I've been meaning to buy a new vacuum cleaner for years, and was going to do it this weekend, until I realized how dumb it would be to carry it home walking. I just got an email from Bed Bath and Beyond, so I ordered it! Phew.

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

Good for you, meara! And best of luck to you!

I overdid it yesterday and am completely useless today. Stupid body.

Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.

I want to submit my photography for publication [link] but it requires me to write about myself and my work, and I'm paralyzed!

Why do you do photography? When did you start?

Why do you do photography?

While nothing can shut off the hypervigilance, instead of scanning the vicinity for nonexistent threats, composing photographs gives my brain something useful to do with the information it is bombarded with, and can be quite soothing.

I doubt that's the kind of biographical detail that they're looking for, though.

I mean, it's not bad.

That's the pain / That cuts a straight line down through the heart / We call it love

Yeah, I agree with Jesse -- that's the kind of thing that would be interesting to know about the person behind the photographs.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

I've been handed another month of May gut-punch. My cousin who's been battling cancer for the last year has just gone into hospice, and we're scrambling to figure out what to do and when/if we should drive down for last visits and to comfort the immediate family. It just can't be said enough: fuck cancer.

Any ~ma folks can spare for his wife, kids, and sister would be appreciated. I think for my cousin himself there's not much left but making him comfortable, which the hospice staff should be excellent at.
