I had to remind a couple of co-workers that much of the Western world considers this time of year to be a significant holiday. "It's Easter?," I said. "Yeah? Oh, right." "A lot of places won't be working on Good Friday. And they have Easter Monday off." "Wow, really? That's a thing?"
Easter is not a big deal to Mormons.
Many of my practices are taking tomorrow off. Not sure about Monday.
It's a weird week when you have Patriot's Day (the real one) and Good Friday coming together, so naturally it is also School Vacation Week around here.
(The largest religious denomination in MA is Roman Catholic, so you'd better believe nearly everyone knows when it is. Also, since I'm privy to some Jewish friends' Passover preparations, there's a little extra reminder going on.)
And Rosemary is actually at a nearly-normal level of activity for her, which is pretty damn slow for just about anyone else -- she's been suffering from a degrading circulation for years now, so I have hopes that as her recovery progresses she'll have a bunch more vim and vigor appropriate for a 63yo.
I'm trying to figure out what to do with my day off tomorrow to make it feel more like a vacation day and less like just another day. But the weather is supposed to be crappy. I've been wracking my brain trying to come up with something that I'd do on a weekend but is too crowded and nothing is coming to mind other than the lady spa, but I'm not feeling that.
...trying to think of inside things... Museum? Shopping? Matinee?
Timelies all!
My parents are here, and will be here until early Monday morning. sigh...
My office closes for Good Friday and my usual 9/80 day off would be on Friday so that got bumped. I had actually planned to take it today instead but then this class got scheduled so I'll have Monday off.
You know, Watergate may just have taught some people some things. All those aides who refused to follow That Man's orders re: Mueller were probably thinking "I'm not the one who's going to be sitting in front of a million cameras explaining why I did the President's dirty work. Mama didn't raise me to be John Dean."
My office is closed for Good Friday (a fact I forgot until my boss reminded me when I said we should schedule something for tomorrow) and I am therefore going antiquing with a friend who freelances.
I don't think I got Good Friday off even in grammar school (I think we had a half-day?), so I am fascinated by all of this!
