Love is stronger than death and harder than sorrow. Those who practice it are fierce like the light of stars traveling eons to pierce the night.

Notre Dame... I have no words.

Not so nice is that I'm about to ruin a Friday morning for a bunch of people because of a series of unfortunate events and an upset foreign government. - shrift

I'm at a conference, and I had to come back to my hotel room to cry.

I sat in the pews and hoped for some kind of respite when I was in Paris for the first anniversary of Rob's death. It was the beginning of the healing process for me. The SO and I were just there in December, and while my relationship with the Catholic Church is non-existent at this point, I walked in and immediately felt at peace. My heart is broken, not just for me, but for my cousins whose city is once again in mourning. Paris has seen too much loss over the last few years.

"And that's why God Almighty gave us fire insurance and the public defender".

The videos of the people of Paris singing hymns to this place are breaking my heart.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

Oh, Notre Dame. How awful, what a terrible loss. I'm crying.

Stupid antidepressants, letting me have emotions again.

Do they know what caused the fire yet?

Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.

Do they know what caused the fire yet?

No definite cause, but probably related to restoration work at the site.

I wonder if Notre Dame will show up in the upcoming Spider-Man movie.

"What kind of magical sunshine and lollipop world do you live in? Because you need to be medicated."-SFist

Firefighters are reporting that the structure and two bell towers have been saved; however two-thirds of the roof has been destroyed. Still no confirmation of cause. Some of the sculptures on the spire that fell had been removed last week due to the restoration work and so have been saved. Looks like they have also been able to save items that were easily removed.

That's a relief, megan.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

I am reading some encouraging stuff about Notre Dame, assuming the sources can be trusted.

Because the spire was being restored, 16 bronze statues that were there were removed a couple of weeks ago and are safe.

What they identify as "the sacred objects" are safe, which I think means artwork and treasures from the interior.

The main structure of the cathedral, including the two towers, is safe.

Or, what megan said, though since she doesn't have to run things through Google Translate, I feel like that's cheating.
