Yes, it's terribly simple. The good guys are always stalwart and true, the bad guys are easily distinguished by their pointy horns or black hats, and, uh, we always defeat them and save the day. No one ever dies, and everybody lives happily ever after.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

But not to be too much of a Pollyanna -- long walk!!!

Why isn't everyone pelting me with JOY, dammit? - Zenkitty

That was my first thought! Long walk = getting around!

meara - Mar 14, 2019 8:44:16 am PDT #5944 of 30019

Lol, well by long I mean three blocks. But yeah. Can limp around, though stamina and flexibility are not there. A bit scared to go back to the docs in two weeks, for fear they'll say "yep, you may never have flexibility and may always limp and not be able to run or dance, but your stamina will get better!"

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I feel like they could say that regardless of the probabilities on either side, just because there probably is SOME possibility of it, so maybe just brace yourself for that.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Good to hear you are walking, meara! I hope your recovery continues.

It's self-appraisal day here. I cannot remember any of my accomplishments from the last year. Surely I had some? Ssems like I must have.

meara - Mar 14, 2019 9:35:54 am PDT #5947 of 30019

Well, you didn't rage quit your job! That's a start!

Yeah, they may say that. But I'm hoping "if we take out some of the metal you're likely to have a better range of motion" would be an answer. Because while my range of motion has improved some, it's still pretty pitiful. Hard to walk down stairs.

It's still pretty early as far as, like ligaments and whatnot recovering, isn't it? Seems to me I've been told they take longer than bones.

Ha, yeah that is an ongoing project! That I'm not telling my boss about. I came up with 6 things, that's probably enough. I guess I'll leave the doc open on my desktop for a while in case I remember something else.

meara - Mar 14, 2019 10:11:39 am PDT #5949 of 30019

Not sure, but I read some studies that basically said if your range of motion sucked shortly after surgery it wasn't going to get tons better a year later, that people who still had range of motion right after stayed a lot better.

Zen, any input or thoughts? I know you had further complications because your bones were secretly rebroken or something?

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

I just discovered that you can play Carmen Sandiego in Google Earth and in unrelated news I'm going to be busy for the rest of the day hold my calls.

I'm kind of with Jessica on used book stores. There was a store in Chapel Hill, NC, called The Bookshop where you never knew what you'd find -- in a good way. Sadly, they closed some years ago.

Yeah, all the good ones in Seattle have closed. There's supposed to be one near Olympia that specializes in SF/Fantasy/Horror/Vintage Romance, which means I need to do some research and convince Pete he wants to do a road trip.
