I have the British man on my Waze. The default American woman has a midwestern accent that I find grating.
My parents had the "door is a jar" car. We never stopped making the jokes.

I manage our mass emails at work, so I see all the bounce-backs; I think people put in the "limited access to email" in the hope that senders don't get too antsy when they don't respond immediately.
meara - so sorry to hear about your leg! you might try wedging it into place with pillows - it might help reduce the twitches as you sleep. Also, use a flattened box or something to lift the top sheet/covers at the foot of the bed so they don't press on your foot (I just remembered this from my first knee dislocation).
I kinda would like to be out for a few weeks! But I feel like if it's one week I can catch up, and if it's like, 3 or more weeks, they'll work around me. But 1-3 weeks is a tricky spot where I just end up with a lot of overdue work and things to catch up on.
I had a couple of coworkers who broke their legs last winter. Granted, I have no idea about the relative severity, but one was out for a couple of weeks, and one was out for at least a month -- maybe 6 weeks? And when she did come back to work, she worked from home for a while more. The person who was out the shorter period said it was a mistake to come back so soon, for whatever that's worth. I think most of that was physically getting around the office, but also just in general.
You're having surgery, too. It takes time to recover from the anesthesia and the disruption to your system.
I feel like if you are supposed to be non-weight bearing for 6 weeks, you should be non-working for at least 6 weeks. Assuming your benefits can make that financially okay.
Meara, I hope you recover more quickly thank you expect.
I actually think I got rid of that hat in one of my moves! So I can't test it.
Well you need to get it back, Jesse. WTFH? We have expectations. We have traditions. We have PayPal accounts and will send you a cowgirl hat of OUR choosing.
Timelies all!
Tired, mostly because Nova started meowing a half-hour before our alarm was to go off.
I gave notice on my long-term sub position today. I realized I just can't hack it with this particular school. Its a combo of the kids and the lack of support from admin. We had 18 different fights last Wednesday--one of the instigators was a girl who STABBED A KID WITH A PENCIL in my classroom in front of the principal who was removing her from the room, and his response was to have a long talk with her. Two days later, she attacked another student in the hall.
I'm there until next Friday (8 more days) and then back to subbing. I'm going to try to get gigs at the schools I hope to work for and worm my way in.
Sorry it was so stressful, Scrappy. You have to do what's right for you.
That sounds like the right decision, Scrappy. Good luck with a school that's a better fit for you!
