Team Lead is being unreasonable, and I'm glad that Engineering Director is better.
a team of industry veterans, not fresh college graduates unaccustomed to the nature of professional software development. I don't want this to happen again.
Has Team Lead been living in a utopian dream world of software development? Because all the industry vets I've worked with 1) needed ramp-up time, and 2) were consistently terrible at communication.
Gee if I didn't know better I'd say Team Lead is covering his own ass by throwing Engineering under the bus.

A long-standing tradition in the software industry!
ND, I'm so sorry to hear that. I wish I could help. Sending all kinds of helping vibes instead.
What Amy Said, ND. Are there any vendors that you could arrange to pay late with a penalty, or get any of your regular customers to give you money down on next month's work (yeah, I don't run my own business, so my speculating is probably 100% worthless and/or you've already figured through that part and the answer is nope.)
Gud, sounds like things may well improve. Fingers crossed.
Thanks folks. I'm working with some friends to get some short term money with a grace period on repayment and a few other things. If running a business was easy, everyone would do it.
That sucks a lot ND—good luck.
I am doing some work on a gorgeous day, but later I'm going to see Samin Nosrat from salt fat Acid heat so I'm super excited!

I hope so. It's just frustrating, because I'm getting pinged for not finishing stories (hell, one of them I did finish the code, it was just the review that took a long time) that weren't even in the original scope of a sprint. It feels like I'm being punished for trying to take on extra work which doesn't seem like a constructive thing to do.
That absolutely sounds like bullshit.
