I've been reading about the effects of trying to function outside in the polar vortex. One of the plot points in the movie Wind River (such a good movie, so sad it didn't get proper appreciation) is the effect on the human body of heavy exertion in extremely cold weather. A commenter on one of the stories thought that was ridiculous, your lungs couldn't possibly sieze up and kill you if you're trying to breathe heavily in sub-zero air. I laughed at him. I imagine other people would be laughing at him now.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

There was an incident in a nonfiction book about an Arctic explorer who nearly died from basically frost-bitten tonsils. From breathing in the super-cold air!

Ugh. A small tube of bubblegum flavored toothpaste somehow ended up in my bathroom. Ptui.

The pants are still long on me despite being cut for my height, alas. I mean, wearable especially with heeled boots, but I guess I will do the full customization next time.

I noticed when I was changing the length on a dress that they said that it was floor length in 3 inch heels. If they make the same presumption for trousers that might be the issue.

I had no idea there were so many Canadian accents. Strong French, all-but-standard-broadcast-American, New Englandish, a little British, and odd pronunciation coming when I least expect it.

edit: "It's supposed to be body temperature. It doesn't say whose body."

Ann, that's a ferret.

I don't know if they can or can't. But why take the chance?

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

And that just sounds like the eastern part of Canada!

A couple months ago I had a guy from Newfoundland or Prince Edward Island in my car (I forget which one now) and the regional accent sounds more Scottish to my ears than anything else! He worked for a fishing organization and was in town to set up some contracts over imported fish.

Oh, thanks, Vortex! Maybe I just need to tweak the style to ankle length or something.
