Once they re-open the government Trump loses all leverage. And he doesn't have the votes.
The Dems will give some money for border security that's not a Slatty Wall and Trump will lie and say he won.
I don't know why Trump has been so intransigent about the wall. He lies about shit he didn't do all the time. He can just lie and say he won.
That doesn't sound... good? OTOH, if they hardly ever need AV for layoffs, so. fingers crossed, here.
It is a safety meeting. Was originally going to be in a week or two, but there were 3 incidents yesterday and my boss is impulsive and ADD, so this is what happens.
Oh jeez. At least you get the overtime! And it's not something like your office is closing.

Politically the Republicans got fuckin' wrecked on this shutdown.
Once Pelosi and Schumer got Trump to take responsibility they were going to win. Not just because they tarred Trump with responsibility for the shutdown with the public, but also because it completely took away any wiggle room that Mitch McConnell had to blame the Dems.
Then Trump was boxed in by the far right wing of his base who want the wall, and vulnerable Republican politicians who were getting hammered in the polls in advance of the 2020 election.
Pelosi held her caucus together. They peeled off six Republican senators on the last vote so this was inevitable.
Not only did Republicans take all the damage for the shutdown, but they lost it too. So stupid.
I remember a political analyst last week saying that if the FAA shut down the airpots they'd have a deal within hours and voila.
None of my news sources are showing anything about a three-week extension.
They're waiting for Trump to make an announcement in the Rose Garden.
And nothing's official quite yet, but...

Trump is currently extolling the virtues of walls.
I'm sorry, "smart walls."
Walls that are made of steel, see-through, and somehow have drones.
