Gavin, ask yourself this question. What are you more afraid of, a giant murderous demon or me?

I look more rad than Lutheranism

Yay, plastic rectangle!

My quarterly taxes have to be postmarked tomorrow, and while I'm fine paying my local taxes, I am salty as HELL about my federal taxes. Because of the shutdown and the overarching general awfulness. Bah. I just don't want to write this stupidly large check because I just hate the POTUS so much.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

My plastic rectangle FINALLY arrived today. Sheesh.

Huzzah! You are financially empowered!

Which is sadly hilarious considering how relatively tiny my taxes really are.

Coding and Sleeping

Kind of a lousy weekend. Not having power certainly didn't help. Also didn't get a lot of good sleep. Saturday night I spent sleeping on the floor in an unheated house without a blanket. Didn't really sleep and it messed up my back. Last night was slightly better than the floor but not by much. Some stuff going on at work that I can't talk about. My wife yelled some stuff at me that sorta hit hard. Our dishwasher broke down and I guessed wrong on the broken part. That was kinda stupid as I was able to short the broken part and make it work so I should have figured it out on the first shot. Honestly, I was just tired that night and didn't want to take apart the dishwasher. Could short the part and use the dishwasher, but I don't want to risk flooding the kitchen. Stupidly smashed my hand something fierce and using it is sorta painful. Felt some bad impulses, but I was able to fight them back so there's that.

I feel guilty complaining, because lots of people have bigger problems. Just bummed out. Meant to get back to some work on the beta site, but the whole power thing blew that up.

Taxes, I need to get on my daughter's taxes pretty soon. Need to do what with her, not for her.

I keep forgetting it's Monday, not Sunday. Had so many errands and distractions that I barely got anything done for work. Have to make that up.

Just because other people have it worse doesn't mean that you don't get to complain to us here, Gud. Your weekend sounds pretty rough to me and I hope your hand is okay.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Oh Gud, I wouldn't even begin to be able to fix a broken dishwasher. And I certainly wouldn't put up with a spouse yelling at me about it. After I slept in an unheated house and fucked up my back.

Sheesh. Give yourself a break. That's a genuine shit-storm.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

OH MY GOD we're reviewing a training we took a few years ago, and a coworker is taking the opportunity to relitigate questions that came up then. WE HAVE BEEN THROUGH THIS.

One good thing is that my hand seems to be doing well. I've put out garbage, been to the grocery store, and washed some dishes and there's nothing but a little soreness. It hurt so much last night I was worried I'd broken something, but it looks like I'm fine. New part for the dishwasher should arrive tomorrow so there won't be a lot more hand-washing to do (now there is a first world problem).

That's the worst, Dana. Workplaces need to put up inspirational posters to drive home the importance of always weighing the value of the questions vs. extending the meeting. Or maybe meetings should have a post-meeting breakdown that only has to be attended by anyone who extended the meeting length.
