"I keep to a strict diet of ill-advised enthusiasm and heartfelt regret." Leigh Bardugo

I have a reading hangover -- up late last night to read An Unkindness of Magicians. I have a quilt to make today (no really) because I'm crap at planning. I'm just waiting for kids to go to school to have a quiet house.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Coffee and bacon sounds SO GOOD. I have had neither. I can fix one of those. Safe travels, shrift!

One Day Quilt, Kat? Wow?

My phone tells me I got an hour and 20 minutes less sleep last night than my average for Thursdays, so i feel validated in my tiredness, I guess.

Ha, my Sr Manager came around doing the morning "how is everyone" thing and I thanked her for recommending for promotion and she looked kind of blank but nodded and smiled. She was out yesterday and I guess they actually made the decision yesterday? Anyway, she came back after she went and asked someone exactly what the situation was and congratulated me. This company has "communication" as one of our Guiding Principles and we are just so erratic at it through official channels.

Our wings are not tired.

Help please for the gift giving incompetent. I'll be having Christmas dinner with DH's brother and family. There will be 4 little ones under 6 there. They don't require gifts, but I'd like to bring something for them. Ideas?

Because books.

Books! Maybe a Christmas themed picture book for each?

Congratulations on the promotion, -t!

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

Laura, the little package you made up for ltc when you saw her would be perfect, crayons, holiday coloring books etc.

Why isn't everyone pelting me with JOY, dammit? - Zenkitty

sj, the radio station I listen to when I'm getting ready in the morning does a segment every Wednesday, "The Lonely Parents Club". People call in and tell the mean things that their kids have said to them. So, you're in the club, all kids apparently say mean things, and I'm pretty sure moms get it the worst. At least you're not alone?

Wow, sj! I can't believe I forgot I did those already. I'll combine that idea with Amy's for Christmas books.

Sounds perfect! ltc still plays with the wind up toys.

Our wings are not tired.

Just saved myself much time and trauma by ordering all the ingredients for my Christmas dinner cooking requirement from Whole Foods for delivery tomorrow night. Free delivery, and the tip is covered by the $10 promo code. I have some whole foods credits for choosing slower shipping on stuff from Amazon still available for another time. Both the Trader Joe's and Whole Foods are in absurdly busy areas and this time of year are a complete horror to park. Woo! Such decadence.
