"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

Salad is dangerous these days.

Salad IS dangerous. I vote cake.

Also I really want to make Christmas cookies but don't want to end up with a ton of cookies at home that I can't give away. Too many dieting/vegan/gluten free people. Also I want to make frosted cookies to use cool frosting colors but I don't really want to eat frosted cookies. Oh the horror!

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

So only four people came to my mother's party, but she doesn't actually know if anyone RSVPed since yesterday since she left her phone at a friend's and hasn't checked her email on the computer either for no good reason. So I end up in the position of trying to make her feel better, when I have also wasted my whole afternoon on this, when I have other shit to do! I'm so annoyed. And sad that I'm not going to have a real tree because I have no time or way to get one. In short: Grrr.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

Being betrayed by salad is such a betrayal.

How about a little tree?

Little enough to carry doesn't seem worth it? Maybe I'll walk over to the tree place tomorrow anyway.

I think you'd like it. Just put it up on a table, and hang some little lights and a few ornaments. Then have a glass of wine and watch it twinkle while listening to the xmas jam of your choice. I think that'll work.

One of those little rosemary trees from Trader Joe's?

I remember the crazy days. 500 posts an hour. Nubmer! Natgbsb

I am putting up at least one tree tonight.

Two days away has improved my headspace enough for me to know I will do that.

I took off Friday and drove the foster pup, Glenda Roux, down to her new home 5 hours away, then meet one set of cousins for dinner and a visit, spent the night with another set of cousins and had brunch with them and my aunt and uncle.

One the drive down I listened to one full Book on tape and on the way back I got about halfway through a much longer, but also much better Book on Tape (Americcanah).

Since I have been, I've vacuumed two rooms, got a load of laundry in, did dishes in sink and filled/started dishwasher, and have the second load of laundry to start. I'm walking all dog related items, dog bed covers, blankets, couch cover, toys - so that when the new temp fosters come tomorrow most of the Roux smell will be gone (hopefully).

I need to go pick up Bailey now-ish, but the sitters are not responding to my text, so I think they might be out. Maybe I'll get the tree out waiting for their text.
