What is even happening?

My coffee was broken too, JZ. It's past 2pm here, and I'm still in my jammies. I've been going through my bookmarks, to see if I still need them.

I stumbled across this one: [link] -- from April 03, 2006, which I labelled "JZ pregnant?"

It was inspired by your post here: [link]

And clearly you were, cuz check it out: [link]

I don't know why I'm sharing this, except it made me feel warm, instead of bitter and worried. Maybe it can do that for someone else.

That bookmark is staying. <3

"And that's why God Almighty gave us fire insurance and the public defender".

Happy birthday, sumi!

I’m thinking that rather than needing everyone to register other people or show them how use the board, etc. (although Laura’s DH was already a buffista to me!), maybe give a dedicated friend or family member the phone number or email of one of us to contact?

I went looking for something in my email, and found an email from Suzi from 2013 with where I sent emergency contact information. Is this still in use?

I debated this a bit because they haven't been here in about 4-5 years, but I'm still in touch with Seska (about 1-2 times a year). I'll send them a DM later tonight, they might want to know.

See? I gave everybody here an opportunity to tell me what a bad person I am and nobody did, because I fuckin' rule.

Awww, Cindy, I remember that. I was super paranoid about saying anything publicly because I'd already had an early miscarriage (very early, enough so that if we hadn't been actively trying and I weren't hyper-aware of my body, I might have thought it was just a missed period... but it wasn't) and I was superstitiously terrified that I could only stay pregnant if I said nothing.

But it was true--there were nasty bugs running around the Bay Area all that spring and Emmett was sick and droopy! Must have been a stressful time for David all around.

Art Crawl!!!

Hello again!

I am having a very nice birthday: 59 (!!!) . I really thought I’d have my shit together more by now.

Yes - a few years ago I started going to services at the local Unitarian Universalist church. It’s been lovely to have one place where the default is “liberal”. I actually became a member 3 years ago & am currently a member of the board. So far not onerous. I am on the board only til the end of June - so I can go back to being just a regular person & will get to attend the Buddhist discussion groups more often.

I am still loving working at the public library. We are currently open for reduced hours & also offering curbside pickup 4x a week. I have picked up an additional shift for somebody who is in India until sometime in January so I have 3 shifts at the circ desk & 2 in inter library loan. (5 days a week plus every other Saturday & one Sunday a month.)

I picked up a houseplant habit this year - all my east-facing window sills are full of plants now & I have been propagating plants on my kitchen table through seeds & leaves. Not as interactive as a cat or dog but I am enjoying it.

I didn’t realize how tense the election was making me until the day after when I got home from work in the early afternoon, ate lunch & took a nap long enough that when I woke up I thought it was the next day!

It’s wonderful to see everyone here & man, oh man, are we going to need each other through what looks to be a very dark winter.

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

Happy Birthday sumi!

Mr. S woke up before 7 this morning, and has been a pain for most of the day. Right now he and Gary are outside playing, at least before the rain comes.

It's past 2pm here, and I'm still in my jammies. I've been going through my bookmarks, to see if I still need them.

My coffee is decaf now, so that's not why I'm still in my jammies, but other than that, I'm about to do that, too, Cindy. I had no idea I had so many things bookmarked! I'm not sure I was good with notes, so I'm curious to see whether I even know why I bookmarked things.

I'm also making stew, so I'm calling today productive.

ETA: And drinking a glass of the red wine I used for the stew, which is not usual for me, but this week... yeah.

Unusually and exceedingly peculiar and altogether quite impossible to describe

Tim lured me out of bed by promising to make pancakes, which were quite tasty. But now I’m back in bed.

You've got friends to have good times with. When you need to share the trauma of a badly-written book with someone, that's when you go to family.

Jim and I just finished watching the governor's press conference: four weeks of lockdown, starting at midnight Monday.
