Unusually and exceedingly peculiar and altogether quite impossible to describe

There is also a contingent (which might just be me) (a contingent can too be 1 person!*) who reads it as Amy-chuh.

**raises hand**

Our contingent is tiny but mighty.

Amy chuh and Amy thuh

What is even happening?

Our contingent is tiny but mighty.

I want this to have summoned Pix, somehow. Is/was "tiny but mighty" her tagline?

There is also a contingent (which might just be me) (a contingent can too be 1 person!*) who reads it as Amy-chuh.

*(Okay, no it can't but I stand by my pronunciation anyway.)

I forgot about Amy-chuh. Now I'm picturing Morgan Freeman and Rita Moreno breaking it down, Electric Company style, although strictly speaking, I think they'd need a third person for the third syllable. The problem with that is, I don't know if The Electric Company ever broke down 3-syllable words, and I can't remember anyone else in The Electric Company cast.

I was going to argue that one could be a contingent, as in a "representative group," but now I don't have to, because ...

*raises hand**

Amy chuh and Amy thuh

Hec and msbelle are Amy-chuh people, too.

we've laughed over many years -- not at people getting us confused, but at the fact that we ourselves would sometimes do a double-take.

I like the image of that.

Also, Cindy is not the only one who pronounces them "a-myth" and "a-mick".

Thank goodness, you're not all confused like Jesse is, Amy.

It's not "ah," it's "ay." Ay-myth, Ay-mitch, Ay-skye.

Jesse, Laura, dcp: is your "ay" supposed to stand in for a long "A" or a long "I" (like aye)? I have many questions.

I will fully admit my head pronunciation of "askye" is stupid, but it's not going anywhere: ask-ie. It should be "ask ye" but it never has been for me.

For me, the mnemonic is "sabrists like sammitches."

dcp, this is such a very Buffista thing, and we'd all know you meant ah-mick, and just mixed things up. ;)

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Jesse, Laura, dcp: is your "ay" supposed to stand in for a long "A" or a long "I" (like aye)? I have many questions.

Long a, like Amy.

What is even happening?

I don't know why I always want to make the "ay" into "aye," except it's both more Scottishy/more piratey.

Aye-myth.

We won’t stop until everyone is gay.

I also had the Cameo thought! And maybe trying to get Cory Branan to write a jingle or something for her.

Calli, it’s been so fucking hard for me (and is only getting harder) to be this far away but i have taken a lot of solace in knowing that you and Anny and Chris are right there, and that she has T&G and J&G and C and that whole Friendsgiving group, and the people from work…

I’m so thankful I was able to see her when I was home and she told me then that this was the likely development so I’ve been semi-quietly trying to wrap my brain around it but I CANNOT. She’s my fannish life partner. She introduced me to the board. I started a note on my phone of memories and just the road trips alone was crazy: DC so many times, Nashville, Arkansas, ATL, Va to hear Jane Espenson, work trips…

We won’t stop until everyone is gay.

I had to tell one of our LJ friends over IG last night and she didn’t even know amyth was sick (JJ/Cricket/Jacyn for those who know her). I’ve been racking my brain for whether there’s anyone else who needs to know. The circles ripple out so wide.

You've got friends to have good times with. When you need to share the trauma of a badly-written book with someone, that's when you go to family.

I second Amy's nomination.

Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

Callie, I always think of you and amych when I think of amyth. I’ve been to North Carolina once in Charlotte and meeting up proved impossible.

But I liked it and always dreamed of going back and having at least one night to hang out and sit talking with you both with music and laughing.

I may not get that chance this time but maybe there is a b.org after we pass. I wish I’d tried harder to make it happen eight years ago. It is wrong and unjust and I hate it too.

Part of what's breaking in me is all the years I've seen your little group of neighbor/friends together (who are all spirit Buffistas, even the ones who aren't literal Buffistas) and how you've all made this great found family of smart creative kind nerdery, and it feels like there's another community I know feeling the same loss that we are (and that we all are as individuals as well).

I also remember talking on here about reading your board names as "ah mick" and "ah myth" even though I knew you both were Amy. I remember laughing as other people said your name was clearly "ah mitch" and not "ah mick." And it's dumb and I'm not conveying it well, but it's just a sweet little memory (to me) of a fun, light board conversation at B.org.

I was a part of that and loved that conversation. I’ve been thinking of it fondly and often the last two days. It makes me just smile. Sadly but it makes me happy too.

It's not "ah," it's "ay." Ay-myth, Ay-mitch, Ay-skye.

Incorrect. Ask-y. Which I know it’s not how the last part is properly pronounced in the whole name but askye is more ask-ee.

I will fully admit my head pronunciation of "askye" is stupid, but it's not going anywhere: ask-ie. It should be "ask ye" but it never has been for me.

Cindy understands me.

I know so many people that I’d never have met without Buffistas. And I’m grateful.

Oh Cindy, I was thinking of you when my dog either broke a tooth or took a half Shepherd canine sized chunk out of her Nylabone. It was small, white and looked like a tooth but was, in fact, Nylabone so I let her eat it.

She definitely didn’t understand why I was laughing so hard. But she ate the small white thing that looked like a tooth.

I’d be tempted to put BOA on Twitter blast.

I did that to AT&T today. Got a response quickly.

Wasn’t able to stop and resolve it but will connecting with them tomorrow. It’s preposterous that Twitter and publicly calling out companies is the only way to get their attention.

But no, I’m not paying for my dead mom’s phone and you’re gonna unlock it for me. I followed your certified death certificate and overheard the manager telling the associate working with me that he was ‘not going to give that bitch a penny or unlock’ that day. So I left copies of all the paperwork with them intending to come back the next week but then COVID. No apparent copies of paperwork on her account and they want me to pay basically a years worth of post-death bills which about equal to what was owed on the phone. I have a brick iPhone X and, now, a bad attitude.

But it’s going get unlocked and then I’ll use it. Not that it’ll be on your network now, AT&T. I was considering taking my 25 years loyal to Verizon ass over to you but instead I’ll be telling everyone how badly you suck and break the law.

What is even happening?

smonster, I remember that amyth brought you to us, and I love that.

I’ve been racking my brain for whether there’s anyone else who needs to know. The circles ripple out so wide.

I've been wondering this too. Do people like kat and Allyson know (from Facebook, maybe)?

She definitely didn’t understand why I was laughing so hard. But she ate the small white thing that looked like a tooth.

Oh Cass. That's so funny. I'm glad you could identify the small white thing.

But no, I’m not paying for my dead mom’s phone and you’re gonna unlock it for me. This isn't funny at all. Why are people so awful? And you'd think it was coming out of their own pockets.
